JONES, LOCKE posted by Jerry Harrison on Saturday, October 12, 1996

Elam LOCKE, b. 1794 in Winfield, NY and wife Jane JONES LOCKE, b. in/of Montgomery, PA, lived in Cincinnati and Melmore, Seneca, Ohio. They had, at least, Eri, 12/30/1822, Josiah, 1830, and Hartwell, 1835 (the latter two born in Melmore). Were there other children? Did the sons who were born in Melmore have descendants?

MILLER, WADE posted by Judy Husman on Wednesday, November 13, 1996

Searching for the parents of Benjamin Franklin WADE, b. 12 March 1842 in Seneca Co. Ben WADE was my great-grandfather. He left the family, so the story goes, for gold and adventure out west when in his teens. He does NOT appear on the 1850 Seneca Co. Census. A "blurb" in an Oregon book (where he married in 1867) gives this information (which I'd like to prove/disprove): Robert WADE, b. Scotland, married Hannah MILLER "of KY" Children: George Washington; Emeline; Isaac; John; Robert jr.; Ezekiel Gavat; Minerva; twins Hannah & *Benjamin Franklin born 12 March 1842; Abraham; and Emeranca. In the 1880 Oregon census, however, Ben WADE said his father was b.NY (!) and his mother b.KY. Any help in researching this family would be greatly appreciated.

GLICK, PLETCHER, SAVIAL, SWANDER posted by John Housley on Sunday, December 8, 1996

I am looking for information on the SAVIAL family. My grandmother Bertha Savial Conrad was born in Tiffin January 27, 1885, but later moved to Wood County near Bloomdale. Her father was John Wesley SAVIAL (1853-1926), and her mother was Mary PLETCHER (1862-1926). I have noted that a Levi SAVIAL (1815-1874) is buried in Rock Run Cemetery in Seneca County. I would like to determine if Levi might be the father of John Wesley SAVIAL. I am also seeking information on the SWANDER family which has Seneca County roots. My third=great grandmother was Mary Ann SWANDER, daughter of John SWANDER and Elizabeth GLICK.

BAUM, BENNETT, SCHEUER, SHIRE posted by Nancy Shire on Thursday, February 6, 1997

My husband's grandfather, Frank (Winfield?) SHIRE, was killed in a farming accident at Old Fort, Ballville Township, Sandusky County on 27 July 1905. His wife, Fannie Arvilla BENNETT, was evidently from Seneca County because they were married there, at Tiffin, on 22 December 1897. Frank SHIRE was born on 8 February 1873, place unknown. He and Fannie had 3 children: Frank Bennett SHIRE, born at Old Fort, Ohio (there seems to be some confusion as to whether this is in Sandusky or Seneca County) in 1898; Mildred Elizabeth SHIRE, at Old Fort, in 1900; and Phillip Henry SHIRE, my father-in-law, at Old Fort, in 1904. After Frank SHIRE Sr. died, Fannie remarried a man named Floyd BAUM and moved to Toledo, Ohio where she and her family remained for the rest of their lives. Fannie must have met Mr. BAUM before she left the farm, because there is a record that he was hired to help harvest the crops left in the field after Frank SHIRE's untimely death. I would like to know more about this family. My husband says the name was not originally SHIRE, but something like SCHEUER, and that there was a large settlement of the family near Frankenmuth, Michigan. However, I have never been able to document any of this. Would appreciate any assistance.
