Mother: Elizabeth STANLEY? |
Stanley Alvis lived for a time in the Little Garden House in
Hanover Co. VA. The home was built in the late 18thc and is
still standing today, just off Rte 33 between Montpelier and
Louisa Co. Line. Stanley bought the site from Walter Chisolm in
1793 and sold the property (101.5 acres) and house to Thomas and
Susannah Carver in 1802.

1847 and was probated in the July 1850 court session; it was
recorded in Caswell Co NC Will Book Q p398.
To wife Lucy Merriweather he devises "home lot in town of
Milton" [this is in Caswell Co NC, right on the VA border] where
he "now lives" and "all land in Caswell Co NC and Halifax Co VA.

Daughter is named as Eliza Ann STAMPS.
To friend Henry ALLEN the will devises "land in Panola Co.,
Mississippi".
A codicil dated 25 Feb 1850 concerning "land in Panola Co.
Miss." states that the crop and stock are "to be sold next fall
. . . all slaves removed to North Carolina unless some prefer
remaining there . . . in that case, those who prefer to stay may
be sold. . . . I wish my blacksmith shop in town of Holly
Springs to be sold."
