Research required: Father: ap Gwyn, Caradoc Mother: verch
Gwerystan, daughter.
[According to BWG, she was Nest, daughter of Gruffudd ap
Llywelyn (d. 1063), the first (and only) native king of all of
Wales. Gruffudd did have a daughter named Nest, wife of Osbern
Fitz Richard, but there is no evidence that she was also married
to Trahaern ap Caradog, and no early source for a second
daughter named Nest. The sources given by Bartrum for this link
are all very late, the earliest being Lewys Dwnn's visitation of
Wales which started in 1586 (LD.ii.107), and the other two cited
sources being early 17th century manuscripts. LD.ii.107 has
Nest marrying 1st Trahaern, and 2nd, the mythical Fleance son of
Banquo (alleged ancestor of the Stewarts), which gives even more
cause for doubt, and I am inclined to regard the supposed
marriage of Trahaern ap Caradog to a daughter of Gruffudd ap
Llewelyn as a very late invention.]"

County until 1745 when they moved to Goochland with his father
and other family members. The land Daniel settled on was in that
part of Goochland that became Cumberland County in 1749. Daniel
also owned land in Pittsylvania County which was divised
to his sons Stephen and Spilsbe."

Walter the Stewart, or FitzAlan, who went northwards to Scotland
and became Dapifer Regis under the Scots King David; he founded
Paisely abbey and died in 1177. In his original paper Round
noted a possibe fourth son, Simon, ancestor of the Boyds; but in
1902 he satisfied himself that Simon was the issue of Aveline de
Hesdin's later marriage with Robert FitzWalter....
From Walter the Steward were descended the royal house of
Stuart, including Lords Bute, Castlestewart, and Galloway (all
of whom possess, if Round may be credited, only an illegitimate
link with the original stem). In the year 1335 the office of
Stewart of Scotland was claimed by Richard FitzAlan, Earl of
Arundel as his by hereditary right...."
