February 25, 1998 Mary L. Cantrell, 81, a resident of the
United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren since 1994, died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday
(Feb. 25, 1998) at the home. She was a former resident of 922 Byron St. Mrs.
Cantrell retired in 1981 after 32 years of service with Memcor-Truohm Inc. She
was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of
the Rebecca Howard Circle; a member of the Huntington County Home Extension
Club; a meber of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a 1934
Graduate of Rock Creek Township High School. She was born May 16, 1916, in Wells
County to Grover Cleveland and Ethel Fern Wilson Brickley. She married Ernest
Curtis Cantrell on Dec. 13, 1937. Her husband died Jan 1, 1983. Survivors
include a son, Marvin Curtis Cantrell, Riverwoods,Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert
(Karen) Brown Waters, Miamisburg, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great
grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Elizabeth) Bassett, Marion, Ind. She was
preceded in death by a son, Ronald Cantrell; a brother, Leonard Brickley; and a
sister, Mrs. Chester (Zelah) Brown. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 until
11 a.m. funeral service Saturday at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Rev. Steven N. Ailes
will officiate at the service. Burial will be at Horeb Cemetery. Pallbearers:
David Cantrell, Tim Brown, Glyn White, Robert Waters, Ilana Cantrell, and Lori
White

Rachel Siler Claiborne, - age 91, of LaFollette (Fincastle
Community), died Thursday, August 26, at St. Mary's Health & Rehab in
LaFollette. She was a member of Fincastle United Methodist Church. Preceded in
death by her parents, James and Alice Siler; husband, Frank Claiborne; brothers,
Charlie, John, James and Walter Siler and sisters, Ethel Siler and Mary Craig.
She is survived by son & daughter in law, Ralph & Juanita Claiborne;
daughter, Fay Claiborne and friend, Robert Marlow; grandchildren, Richard
Claiborne, Cheryl Liles & husband, David; sister & brother in law, Ruth
& Clem Riggs, Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and other relatives
and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, August 27, at Fincastle
United Methodist Church, from 1-2 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m., and
graveside service to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Kevin Cole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fincastle Methodist Church
Building Fund, 629 Old Middlesboro Hwy., LaFollette, Tenn. 37766 or to the

Joint services were held for two Lafollette
men

Two Lafollette men, Tommy Lee Coffey, 19, and Lonnie Lee Lloyd,
22, were killed in a collision March 1 near Monroe, Ga., as they were on their
way to work. State police reported to Roach Mortuary attendants the collision
occured in a heavy fog, as the pair were headed for their construction jobs. A
driver of a truck involved in the collision died last Wednesday night the
trooper said. Mr. Coffey is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs. Ever?irl Coffey
of Route 3, Lafollette and his brother Michael Coffey also of Lafollette. Mr.
Loyd is survived by his wife Patricia Rutherford Lloyd his sister Miss Frances
Lloyd two borthers Gary Lloyd and Robert Lloyd and his grandmother Mrs. Rose
Bolton all of Lafollette. Joint Funeral services were held at Roach Mortuary
Chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John Nunley and the Rev. Clarence Floyd. Mr.
Coffey was buried in Campbell Memerial Gardens. Mr. Lloyd was buried in Bakers
Forge Cemetery. Roach Mortuary Lafollette was in charge of arrangements.

Mitt Wesley Cox, 67, of Route 2, Jacksboro died Tuesday at
Lafollette Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Cox, Route
2, Jacksboro; his sister, Mrs. Ollie Welch of Paris Tenn.; three brothers
Luther, Richard and Dan Cox all of Route 2 Jacksboro; three grandchildren and
one great grand child. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Martins Chapel by
the Rev. Owen Hatmaker and the Rev. Ralph Cordell. Burial was in Cumberland View
Cemetery. Martins Funeral Home Lafollette was in charge of
arrangements.

March 1,1994 William Thomas(Tom)Cox,80,of Corbin Hill
Road,Coalfield,died March 1 in his Coalfield home. His parents were the late
Willie Martin and Allie Mae Lively Cox.A brother,Albert Cox,preceded him in
death.Mr.Cox,a retired coal miner,worked with Windrock Mining Co. for 33
years.He was a member of UMWA.He was a member of Stephens Baptist
Church.Survivors include two brothers,Elmer L.Cox and wife,Hazel,of
Knoxville,James F.Cox and wife,Elizabeth of Coalfield,three sisters, Ethel
McCartt of Coalfield,Ella Miller,Phenix City,Ala.Dorothy Melton of Oliver
Springs, sister-in-law,Ina Cox of Oliver Springs,several nieces and
nephews.Funeral services were Thursday in the Chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in
Oliver Springs with the Rev.Kenneth Stubbs officiating. Burial was Friday in
Indian Creek Cemetery.
