Luther Barton Badron, 77, died March 4 at Jellico Municipal Hospital. He is survived by two daughters Mrs. J. M. Hatfield and Mrs. William Allen both of Lafollette one son, Lewis Badron also of Lafollette one brother Austin Badron of Pensacola Fla., 14 grandchildren and 10 great grand children several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walters Chapel by the Rev. Bill Hembree. Burial ws in Bakers Forge Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home, Lafollette was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Baird, -Born May 11, 1926.  Died Sept. 2, 1972.  Survivors: husband,  Earnest Baird, of Elk Valley, Tenn.; 3 sons, Sherman Rich of Wauson, Ohio, James Rich, of Elk Valley, Tenn., Albert Baird of Elk Valley, Tenn.; mother, Mrs. Lillie Terry, of Elk Valley, Tenn.; l sister Mrs. Viola Posey, of Oneida; 2 brothers, Austin Terry of Wauson, Ohio, L.C. Terry, of Cincinnati, Ohio; 2 grandchildren.  She was a member of the Lick Fork Baptist Church.  We believe our loss is her gain in glory. 


Janurary 19, 1962

Minerva Baird, -Born April 11, 1876, died Jan. 19, 1962.  She professed a hope in Christ when she was a young girl and united with the church about 26 years ago.  She was a faithful member.  She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Phillips of Corbin, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Baker of Elk Valley, Tennessee.  Two brothers, George Gibson of Knoxville and Albert Gibson of Elk Valley, Tennessee and nine grand children and 12 great-grand children and three great great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

John David Baxter Jr.,55,of Andersonville died Saturday night in Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Mr.Baxter,a veteran of the Army,was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell.He was employee of the Knoxville News-Sentinel and former employee of Dempster Brothers,with 28 years service. Survivors include his wife,Delores Seiber Baxter,son and daughter-in-law,John and Mary Lou Baxter of Irving,Texas.,father-in-law and mother-in-law,Fred and Leora Seiber,brother,Robert Baxter of Knoxville, sisters, Ann Hatmaker of Heiskell and Morgan Childs of Harriman. Services were Tuesday in Temple Baptist Church with pastor Clarence Sexton and son,the Rev.Matt Sexton officiating.Weaver's Cumberland Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

81-year-old Dies Monday
Mrs.Ida Herrell Beets,81,the widow of J.D.Beets,died at 2:50p.m.Monday at her home on Clinton Rt.4 Funeral services were held at 3p.m.Wednesday at the Farmer Grove Baptist of which she  was a member with the Rev.Luther Wilson and the Rev.Wayne Province officiating.Burial was in the Zion Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home of Clinton in charge.Survivors include one son,Fred Beets Clinton Rt.4,brother, Lon Herrell Lake City.

Steven Duran Blankenship, age 43, passed away suddenly Friday September 14, 2001 at his home. He was preceded in death by Father Luther Blankenship. Survivors, Mother, Sallie Blankenship, Jacksboro Brother, James Teague, Nashville Sister Judy Ray, Florida Niece and Nephew, Hannah Lambert and Fabian Ray, Great Nieces, Hannah and Summer Lambert. Funeral services at 8 pm Sunday September 16 2001 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Don Reynolds officiating. Interment at 11 am Monday September 17 2001 at Woodlawn Cemetery Family will recieve friends 6 to 8 pm Sunday prior to service arrangements by Cross Funeral Home La Follette

Irvin Braden,63,Former Squire,Dies
Irvin Braden,63,for 20 years
a Funeral Director at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City,died of a heart attack Friday morning after he went to work.He resided at 604 Church St.in Lake City.Braden was elected a member of Anderson County Court on Aug.5,194? and served one term.He also served on the Lake City Board of Mayor and Commission from 1961 to 1963,in charge of the department of safety.Earlier employment was with Cambria Coal Co.at Briceville and as a sercurity gyard in Oak Ridge.Braden belonged to Cystal Lodge ?? F&A.M. at Briceville.He was a deacon at Main Street Baptist Church.Services were at 3p.m.Sunday at his church with the Rev.Edsel West officiating. Burial was in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.He leaves his wife,Mrs.Josephine Goodykootz Braden,a son,Rex Braden of Boise,Idaho.,three daughters,Mrs.Robert(Lucille)Foust of Clinton,Mrs.Loy(Noleeka)Marshall of Dallas,and Mrs.Lawrence(Coleen)Myers of Tucson,Ariz.,10 grandchildren,two brothers,Oscar Braden and Walker Braden both of Briceville,two sisters,Mrs.Frances McMann of Blaine and Mrs.Nellie Galbraith of Oliver Springs.


February 4 1935

Brother Samuel Brantley was born October 22 1867. Died February 4th 1935. Brother Brantley professed a hope in his youthful days and about January 1894 He joined the Primative Baptist Church at Mossey Springs and lived a faithful member until death. Brother Brantley was public in prayer. He leaves a widow, six sons three daughters and a host of brethen and friends to mourn. But we have the evidence that our loss is his gain.

D.K. Bridges, -Was born the third day of March, 1879 and passed away November 6, 1962.  He was married to Linda Freels the 26th day of April, 1900, to this union was born 13 children, 9 of the children and his companion preceded him in death.  He professed a hope in Christ and joined the Capuchine Church and remained a member of that church till 1949, then bringing his letter to Lick Fork Church where he remained a faithful member until death.  He leaves 3 daughters, Nola Lowe, Knoxville, Flora Wells and Clara Jeffers of Clinton, one son, Andy Bridges of Elk Valley, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.


Esley Bridges, -69, of Elk Valley, passed away early Wednesday morning at Jellico Municipal Hospital.  Retired lumber worker and a member of Elk Fork Baptist Church, where he was trustee for 40 years.  Survivors:  wife, Mrs. Sylvia Bridges of Elk Valley; five daughters, Mrs. Velma Long of Elk Valley, Mrs. Geneva Marcum of Pioneer, Mrs. Lois Antrian of Knoxville, Mrs. Ruby Baird of Ohio, Mrs. Nellie Neal of Pioneer; five brothers, Kelly of Oneida, Virgil of Jellico, Eckley of Elk Valley, Verdie of Kentucky, James Bridges of Winfield; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Cross and Mrs. Marie Wilson, both of Oneida, Laura Bridges of Elk Valley, Mrs. Lessie Chambers, Oneida; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.  Funeral services 2 p.m. Friday at Elk Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Ballard Sweeney, Rev. Roe Chitwood and Rev. J.C. Murray officiating.  Interment in Valley View Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Brown, 72, of Route 2 Lafollette died Friday in Oakwoods Hospital in Dearborne Mich. Survivors include her husband George L. Brown of Route 2 Lafollette Five daughters Mrs. Maude Sheets, Mrs. Betty Mongar both of Melvindale Mich., Mrs. Mary Rogers of Pensacola Fla., LaFrona Christopher of Norris Mrs. Juanita Riggsbee of Lafollette two sons, Hugh L. Brown of Taylor Mich., Harley C. Brown of Flatrock Mich., four sisters Mrs. Atlas Thayer of Amhurst Ohio Mrs. Mike Jones of Robbins Tenn Mrs. Carl Richardson and Mrs. Steve Ford both of Lafollette four brothers Monroe Moffett of Spring City Tenn Hugh Moffett of Robbins Theoadore Moffett of Amhurst Ohio and Clyde Moffett of Speedwell 15 grandchildren and five great grand children. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Grantsboro Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Maxwell and the Rev. Donald LaBelle Burial was in Grantsboro Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home Lafollette was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Roxie W. Brown, 70, Route 3, Lafollette. Wife of the Rev. Horace Brown died Wednesday afternoon. She was a member of the Indian Bluff Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Rev. Horace Brown of Route 3 Lafollette One son Grover of Lafollette tyhree brothers Fletcher, Beecher, and Wayne Ward; four grandchildren Lewis Brown Mrs. Joyce Lowe Arnold Brown and Tim Brown and one great grand child. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Martins Chapel by the Rev. Earnest Goins and the Rev. Kelly Byrd Burial was in Campbell Memerial Gardens. Martins Funeral Home Lafollette was in charge of arrangements.

Claude Bullock, 8 months, died at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonzo Bullock, last Tuesday afternoon, after a short illness. The family lived near Coal Creek. Surviving are; the parents, Mr.and Mrs.Bullock and four brothers, and sisters. Funeral services were held last Wednesday at 1p.m. at the home with the Rev. H. L. Hutchins officiating. Burial was in Bakers Ford Cemetery.Martin Funeral Home was in charge.Buried in Bakers Forge Cemetery with the following dates on headstone, b. Nov. 29, 1935 d. July 29, 1936.

Mrs.Bullock,89,Dies At Wayside
A member of Fraterville Baptist Church,Mrs.Nora Ann Vowell Bullock,89,formerly of Lake City, died ay Wayside Health Care Center near Norris.Mrs.Bullock was born and raised in the Coal Creek community,now known as Lake City.She was the widow of John F.Bullock,who died 10 years ago. She enjoyed raising a family and her hobbies include quilting and gardening.She is survived by two daughters, Mrs.Lorene Leinart of Clinton and Mrs.Magaline Stout of Mt.Clement,Mich.,four sons,Joe Bullock of Lake City, George Bullock of Knoxville,Frank and Willard Bullock,both of Lake Station,Ind.24 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren, two sisters,Mrs.Mossie Bullock and Jennie Vowell,both of Clinton,and a brother,Luther Vowell of Lake City. Funeral services were held Monday at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Revs.Elbert Baird and Jimmy Ault officiating.Burial was in Tennessee Valley Memory Garden.

Ovie Bullock, 43, of 418 S. Ave., LaFollette, died Thursday, Feb. 8, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of the Round Baptist Church. Mr. Bullock was preceded in death by parents Hobert and Tasie McKamey
 Bullock. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bullock of LaFollette; sons Adam Bullock of Caryville, Joey William Bullock of LaFollette, and Franklin Reynolds of Mich.; daughters Crystal Gail Seiber of Caryville, Jessica Rose Bullock and Hope Renae Bullock, both of Lafollette, and Anna Hatfield of Eagen; brothers Archie Bullock of Halls, Arlie Bullock of Powell, and Larry and Ellis Bullock, both of Caryville; sisters Alice Loy of Clinton, Haley Bullock and Pernice Bullock of Caryville, and Pearl Phillips of Powell; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 11, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Phillips and Jimmy Rutherford officiating. Interment was held in the Campbell Memorial Gardens. Martin Wilson Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Amanda Bunch, 68, died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs.Gertie Bunch of Wartburg Rt1. Survivors include five sons, Willie Bunch of Lansing Rt 2, Ralph, Raymond, and Elmer all of Fork Mountain, James of Wartburg Rt 1, two daughters, Mrs. Gertie Bunch and Mrs. Stella Overton of Fork Mountain, two brothers, Willie Byrge of Florida and John E. Byrge of Clinton Rt 5, two half-brothers, Charlie Byrge of Lafollette and Harvey Byrge of Detroit, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. Delia Craig of Clinton Rt 5, and Emily SEIBER of Charley's Branch, one half-sister, Mrs.Laura Bunch of Rosedale, 22 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.Funeral services were Saturday at the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Owen Portwood officiating. Burial was in Phillips Cemetery at Rosedale.Martin of Lake City was in charge.

Walter,Jesse,J.R.,Eblen,Kermit,and Burley,all of Caryville, Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10a.m. at Bear Wallow Church,conducted by Rev. John Paul .Burial was in the Bunch cemetery near Rosedale.Martin was in charge.

Brother D.W. Bundren was born January 1 1886 professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Church at Salem June 1905 and was ordained a deacon and held that office till death. A wife seven children, the church and a host of friends survive him.

Esco E.Burress,68,of Clinton died Sunday in Methodist Center of Oak Ridge.Mr.Burress was born Feb.28,1926 in Anderson County.the son of Hobart and Hobart Jane Hoskins Burress.He was a maintenance supervisor for ORAU,a member of anderson County Beer Board,and a member of First Baptist Vhurch.Mr.Burress served in World War II with the U.S. Air Force.He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife, Juanita W.Burress of Clinton,one son,Scott Burress of Jacksonville,Fla.two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bill Pemberton of Middlesboro,KY.,and Sheree and Walter Long of Old Town,Fla.grandchildren, Stephanie and husband,Michael Brock,Mack Miller,Gary Miller,Nicole Pemberton and Chance Long,one  great-grandson,Justin Brock,brother,Louis Burress of Knoxville,sisters,Iva Deane Harber of Clinton, and Patsy Guenther of Nashville,several nieces and nephews,and mother-in-law,Sammie West of Clinton.
