Jan.26,1984 'Jelly' Idles 80,Dies After Being Burned The
proprietor of a general store and Gulf Service Station in Briceville that was
one of the community's gathering places,Henry Louis(Jelly)Idles,80,died last
Thursday at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He had been at the hospital since
he was severely burned the day after Christmas as he tried to ignite a coal
stove at the store.He was rushed to the burn unit at the Chattanooga hospital
shortly after receiving preliminary treatment at Oak Ridge Hospital.The
well-known businessman had operated the store on State Highway 116 since
1947.His wife,Mrs.Pauline Cox Idles,said Idles had been running the market on an
increasingly smaller scale and had planned to retire on Dec.31. Idles enjoyed
mixing with the public at his store,his wife continued.He was a coal miner
until he was injured in an accident in 1941.Idles parents came to this area from
Union County. Besides his wife,Idles is survived by a son,Henry L.Idles of
Calumet,IL.,two daughters, Mrs.Helen Cantini of Closplint,Ky.,and Betsy Idles of
Erwin,four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were
held Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Briceville with the Revs.Troy
Chirstopher and Lonnie Dison officiating.Burial was in Oak Grove
Cemetery.

Condy Dean Isabell (Gibber), 32, of Caryvile died Monday March 21
at th ehome of his niece, Mrs. Claude (Anna) Jeffers of Caryville, with whom he
made his home. He was of Baptist Faith.Funeral services were Thursday March 17
at Martin Funeral Home chapel of Lake City, with the Revs. L.B. Husky and Carl
Harness officiating. Interment was in Beech Grove Cemetery. Survivors include
brothers C.L. Isabell of Lafollette and Lonnie Isabell of Caryville and sisters
Bonnie Smith Pearl Daughterty Christine Isabell and Marie Tackett all of
Caryville Mary Johnson of Knoxville Louise Melton Stella Lloyd Thelma Kimberlin
and Charlotte Phillips both of Lake City. (That is supposed to be
Lafollette)

Earl Robert Isabell Sr. of Miller Rd. in Lake City , passed away
Thursday at 10:50 am at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.He was a
retired industrial painter of the Aurora Casket Co. in Aurora IN A member of the
AFL-CIO. he attended First Baptist Church in Aurora In He has been living in
Anderson Co for the past eight years. He ws proceded in death by daughter
Elizabeth Ann Goins parents Holbart M. and Flossie Lovely Isabell; brothers
Arlan and William Isabell of Lake City. Survivors include sons Earl Isabell of
Ocala Fl Tom Isabell of Lake City and Time Isabell of Seattle Washington Sisters
Ocie Goodykoontz of Lake City and Ethel Ault of Briceville 14 grandchildren and
one great grand child. The family is scheduled to recieve freinds 6-9 pm on
Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City Funeral Services are to be held
Sunday at 1pm at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with Rev Lee Phillips
officiating. Buriel will be at Beech Grove Cemetery in Lake
City.

Leonard Iabell, --age 71 of Rt 2 Lake City passed away early
Friday morning. Member of New Hope Baptist Church. Retired Coal miner.
Survivors; wife Mrs. Anna Lee Isabell Lake City sons; C.L. Isabell, Jacksboro
Lonnie and Condy Isabell both of Lake City daughters Mrs. Bonnie Smith with whom
she made her home Mrs. Louise Melton both of Lake City Mrs. Pearl Daughterty
Mrs. Marie Tackett Mrs. Stella Loyd all of Caryville Mrs. Charlotte Phillips
Mrs. Thelma Kimberland both of Lafollette Mrs. Christine Cross of Jacksboro Mrs.
Mary Johnson of Knoxville 53 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren. Funeral
Services 2 p.m. Sunday Beech Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Virgle Tackett, Rev
William Dawson officiating. Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery. The body of
Leonard Isabell will be returned to his home of his daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Smith,
2 p.m. Saturday, where friends may call at their convience. Martin Funeral Home
Lake City in Charge.

Mrs. Myrtle Mae Fritts Isabell, 64, wife of Leonard Isabell of
Fourth St, Lake City died last Thursday in Lake City Hospital. She leaves 90
survivors. She had suffered a heart attack the Sunday before her death. Mrs.
Isabell was a native of Anderson County having lived in the Lake City area all
her life. Her husband is a retired coal miner.She was a member of Beech Grove
Baptist Church.Besides her husband, she leaves three sons; C.L. Isabell of
Caryville, Lonnie and Condy Isabell, both of Lake City; nine daughters, Mrs.
Mary Johnson of Knoxville, Miss Stella Isabell and Mrs. Bonnie Smith both og
Lake City, Mrs Pearl Daughterty, Mrs. Marie Tackett, Mrs.Christine Stepp, Mrs
Louise Melton, Miss Charlotte Isabell all of Caryville, and Mrs. Thelma
Kimberlin of La Follette.Other survivors are one sister Mrs. Leona Carroll of
Caryville; one brother James L. Fritts of Lake City; 29 grandchildren; five
great grandchildren; 20 step-grand children; 21 step-great
grandchildren.Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beech Grove Baptist Church
with the Rev. Kenneth Seeber and the Rev. Richard Phillips officiating. Burial
was in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Bobby Lewis Smith, 26 of Route 1, Caryville, and Ray M. Isabell,
23, of Montgomery, Ill., were killed early Sunday in a one-car accident on Twin
Cove Road one mile east of Caryville. The car ran off the road and struck a
tree, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol office in Knoxville. Samuel
Loyd, Jr., 25, of Caryville, was seriously injured in the accident.Mr. Smith was
employed up until one year ago as a laborer for Allied Steel. He was a member of
the Baptist and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Stella Isabell Smith; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Smith, father and step-mother; Adam
Scott Smith half brother of Caryville three sisters Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Jeffers
and Mrs. Kerry (Pauline) Albert both of Vasper, and Mars. Jimmy (Linda) Woodall
of Lake City and two step sisters Melissa Crystal Mae, and April Sue Smith both
of Vasper. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beech Grove Baptist
Church with the Rev. L.D. Tackett and the Rev. L.B. Huskey officiating. Burial
will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. The family will recieve friends from 7 to 9
tonight at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.
