Charlie Nelson, 89, of LaFollette, died Saturday, Jan. 27, at his
home. He was a member of Murrayville Baptist Church, He was preceded in
death by his wife, Ollie Nelson; daughter Jerene Cox; parents Rose and Sarah
Nelson; brother Dewey Nelson; grandson Travis Brantley. He is survived by sons
Lawrence, Herman and Monroe Nelson, all of LaFollette, Willard Nelson of
Lawrenceville, Ga.; daughters Mattie Bowman, Nina Jo Brantley, Vonette Cadle and
Brenda Ash, all of LaFollette; brothers Millard Nelson, of Bowling Green, Ky.,
Robert Nelson of Leonoir City, and Wheeler and Paul Nelson, both of
LaFollette; sisters Callie Richardson of Lenoir City andEmma Jean Cooper of
LaFollette; 26 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Murrayville
Baptist Church with Rev. J.L. Shoun and Rev. Virgil Farmer officiating.
Interment was held at Bakers Forge Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
January 19, 1933
Mrs. Sarah Newcomb, 70 widow of J.F. Newcomb died Friday night,
January 13 in a Knoxville hospital where she had been taken. She is survived by
one daughter Mrs. R.T. Lyons of Knoxville and one son, Ernest W. Newcomb of
LaFollette. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:30pm from West Emory
Church. The Rev. J.L. Seale of LaFollette in charge of the services Burial was
in the West Emory cemetery following the services. Pallbearers were James
DeLaney, Luther DeLaney, Alex DeLaney, Joe DeLaney, Carl DeLaney and P.W.
Hearon.

December 21, 1911, died May 19, 1973. Survivors: 3 [5] daughters, Mrs.

brothers: David and Charles Bridges of Elk Valley, Tenn.; Everette Bridges of
