Ellen Siler Marcum, age 81 of Middlesboro died June 14 at the Middlesboro ARH. She was born Oct. 26, 1922 in Pruden the daughter of the late Joe and Pearl Baker Siler. She was a member of the Fonde Baptist Church where she served as secretary-treasurer for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Marcum; parents. She is survived by her daughter, Betty and husband, Donnie Powers of Cumberland Gap; son, Larry and wife, Debbie Marcum of Middlesboro; grandchildren, Kris Wilburn, Phillip Powers, James Ralph Marcum, Robin Freeman and Michael Marcum; six great grandchildren; sisters, Opal Orick of LaFollette and Mary Hummell of Louisville, Ky; brothers, Joe Siler, Salt Lick, Ky, Rusty Siler, London, Ky; special sister-in-law, Mary Kelly; special friends, Georgia Powers and Elta Garland. Funeral services were June 17 at the Creech Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Powers and Rusty Siler presiding. Music was provided by the Powers family. Interment was in the Green Hills Memorial Garden. Pallbearers were Denny Orick, Phillip Powers, Conley Wilburn, Jr., James Ralph Marcum, Michael Marcum, Teddy Freeman and Robert Wilson. Creech Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret McClary Masden "Mema" Marion, - age 77, of Caryville (in the Ridgewood community) passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004 at her residence. She was a member of Lake City United Methodist Church where she was organist/pianist for 20+ years. She also was a member of the choir. She formed and played in the rhythm band at the Lake City Nursing Home. She was a member of the Keen Club at Lake City. She taught school in the Campbell County School System for 34 years. She was preceded in death by parents, William Thomas & Nell Elizabeth Masden; sisters, Mary Helen "Juicy" Miller, Elizabeth Masden; brother, Willliam Thomas "Budge" Masden. Survivors: husband, Matt Marion of Caryville, Tn.; daughters, Cindy Chadwell & husband, Jim, of Caryville, Tn., Donna Byrd & husband, Richard, of Clarksville, Tn., Dr. Jenny Byrd & husband, Dr. David Byrd, of Athens, Tn.; grandchildren, Kim Campbell & husband, Dr. Keith Campbell, Knoxville, Tn., Jamey Chadwell, Jonathon Chadwell, Kristin Byrd, Wes Byrd, Todd Marion & wife, Rachel, Katie Byrd & Will Byrd; special great granddaughter, Collins McClary "Angel" Campbell; special great grandsons, Dalton, Levi, & Steele Marion; sister, Margie Rose & husband, Glenn, of Etowah, Tn.; several nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 21, 2004 from 6 to 8 PM at the Lake City United Methodist Church with funeral service to follow at the church at 8:00 PM with Rev. Brenda Poole officiating. Interment will be Sunday, August 22, 2004 at 3:00 PM at the Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah, Tennessee. John Lee Marlow, age 65 of Clairfield died June 18 at the Jellico Community Hosptial. He was born Oct. 22, 1938 at Jellico, the son of the late Franchie and Martha Evans Marlow. He is survived by his ex-wife, Darlene Terry of White Oak; daughter, Donna Bell of Roses Creek; sons, Jimmy Marlow, White Oak, Johnny L. Marlow, LaFollette; nine grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Marlow, LaFollette. Graveside services were June 21 at the Odd Fellow Cemetery with Rev. Cotton Pittman officiating. Cox and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Viola G. Marlow, 96, of Louisville, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home. Born in Limestone County, AL, she was the former Viola Hall, retired former owner of the old Marlow Department Store and a member of Southeast Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie D. Marlow. She is survived by her son, Silas R. Marlow and his wife, Gloria Marlow; grandchildren, Cherry Flener and her husband, Wesley Flener, Vicki Woodrum and her husband, Dana Woodrum and Donna Barnett; great-grandchildren, Melissa Campbell, Tracy Flener, Danille Woodrum, Carrie Woodrum and Nathaniel Woodrum; and great-great- grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Billy Campbell, Alex Campbell and Amy Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens-West. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2003, at the funeral home.

Funeral Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Ellisons Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ralph Leach, Burial was at Highland Cemetery, Williamsburg Ky. His grandchildren were pall bearers. Ellison Funeral Home of Jellico, was in charge of the arrangements.

Rogers Alonzo "Doc" Mefford of Lake City Sept. 4 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was employed by the Exxon Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore R. & Virginia Brown Medford. He is survived by his sister, Faye Mefford, Lake City; aunts and uncles, Mary Lou Phillips and Faye and Herman Mefford all of Jacksboro; several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends who helped him at any time they were needed. Memorial services will be held Sept. 11 at the Martin Wilson Chapel with Tim Mefford officiating. Interment will be in Campbell Memorial Gardens. Funeral services were held for Grace Miller,94,of Jacksboro Rt.1,on Sunday in Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City.The Rev.Don Whited,the Rev.Fred Walden and the Rev.J.T.Leach officiated.Burial was Monday in Marlow Cemetery.Mrs.Miller died Feb.25 in Lake City Health Care Center.she was a member of Cherry Bottom Baptist Church.Her husband,Mack Miller,parents,Thomas and Parisada Marlow,four children, Billy Thomas,Raymond,Charles Edward and Alma Jean Miller,and a granddaughter,Patricia Ballew,preceded her in
death.Survivors include daughters,Charlene Parks and Lillian Queener both of Jacksboro,Jeanie Edwards of Flint,Mich,Glenna Sue Ward of Dayton,Ohio,20 grandchildren,32 great-grandchildren,nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives.

William E. Miller of Dayton, OH, formerly of Jacksboro died Aug. 18. He was born March 29, 1923. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from General Motors in Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ella Mae Miller; brothers, Homer Lee and James "Luddy" Miller; sisters, Emma Brummett and Arleen Kronour; nephew, William Cantrell. He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Hickey and Mary Barton; brother, Billy Joe Miller, Dayton, OH; several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Funeral services were Aug. 21 at the Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon, OH. Interment was in the Bearcreek Cemetery. Rogers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dollie S. Moore, age 77 of LaFollette began her new life on the morning of June 17. She was a member of the Jacksboro United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, her specialty being roses. She was also a seamstress. She attended Bethel High School and was captain of the girl's basketball team. She was a volunteer Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Drew J. Moore; father, James Singleton. She is survived by her mother, Ethel Milsap of Abingdon, Va; children, Marlenia Moore Overholt and husband, Jim of Abingdon, Va, Richard Drew Moore and wife, Betty of Harriman, Gary Moore and wife, Tammy of Franklin, Ky, Kathy Childs and husband, Rick of LaFollette; grandchildren, Chad Overholt and wife, Rebecca, Travis Logan Overholt and friend, Jennifer, Angie Moore, Derick Moore and wife, Ginger, Shannon Moore, Justin Moore, Morgan Moore, Jonathan Moore, Cindy Childs and Sarah Childs; great grandchildren, Haley James Overholt, Josh Moore and Alexia Moore; brother, John Singleton, Abingdon, Va; best friend, Martha Wells; several nieces and nephews. Mary V. Morrison, age 79 of West Plains, Mo went home to be with the Lord on June 29. She died at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Pineville, KY on July 9, 1924 to Allie Smith Hoskins and Jessie K. Hoskins. She lived in Kentucky until 1997 when she relocated to LaFollette. After the loss of her companion or more than 50 years in April 2004, she moved to West Plains in July 2003 to be near her daughter. She spent more than 30 years working in retail sales, amassing many friends over the years. She always had a smile and kind words for her customers. She loved the Lord and had attended United Freewill Baptist Church since moving to West Plains. She was a very loving mother and mamaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Morrison; mother and father; two brothers.She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hammond and husband, Darr of West Plains, MO; son, David Morrison and wife, Kathy of LaFollette; sister, Ruby Hupp, Williamsburg, KY; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Dawn DeRoch, Mi, Brent Byrd, MI, Fred Byrd, Ky, John Byrd, MO, Michael Byrd, LaFollette, Elijah Morrison, Dane Morrison, and Eric Morrison, all of Ky, Channyn Morrison, Il, Shawn Morrison, serving the United States Army at Fort Gordon, Ga, Nicole Gravely, Ga; eight great grandchildren. Funeral services and interment were July 2 at the State Line Cemetery with Rev. Clarence Burton officiating. Henry R. Jr. Mullins, - age 79 of LaFollette passed away September 17, 2004 at 6:45 AM at the St. Mary's of Campbell County Medical  Center Nursing Home. He belonged to LaFollette United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the Navy. He belonged to Jacksboro Masonic Lodge #322 F & AM, he worked at Union Carbide of Oak Ridge Y- 12 plant for 22 1/2 years. Mr. Mullins was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed being with his great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry R. Mullins Sr. and Isbell Trowbridge Mullins; sister: Charolette Quillen; A special uncle and aunt: Bob and Vera Delap. Mr. Mullins is survived by his wife of 58 years; Christine Ridenour Mullins; daughter and son-in-law: Nora Lou and George Ellison all of LaFollette; two grandchildren: Rev. Brent Ellison and wife, Tonya; Candie Roberts and husband, Benny of Jacksboro; 5 great grandchildren; Laureen, Kirsten, and Blake Roberts; Seth and Jarret Ellison whom he loved very much; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 4 PM Sunday, September 19 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Campbell Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2 til 4 PM Sunday before funeral services. Pallbearers will be Edward Ridenour, David Reed, J.L. Stittums, Ed Henegar, Benny Roberts, and Jeff Hoskins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Claude Brown, Walter Witt, Arnold Hatmaker, Lindsay Reed. Georgia Ann Murray, age 87 of LaFollette, a much respected and beloved math teacher who served in LaFollette High School forty-two years, died Sept. 22, at St. Mary's Health & Rehab Center in LaFollette. Miss Murray, while small in stature, leaves behind a large void in Campbell County, specifically in LaFollette, the community she loved and served for so long.She was born on May 2, 1917 to Harvey George Murray, a Federal Commissioner in LaFollette, and Alice Carden Murray, a teacher and homemaker. She lived for sixty years on Chestnut Street, later moving to Linden Square and finally a resident of the LaFollette Assisted Living Center since Aug. 2002. She was a 1934 graduate of LaFollette High School and several years later became a graduate of Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, where she earned a B.A. in Mathematics. Her father had been the County Moderator for the Baptist Church Association of Campbell County and was instrumental in organizing the First Baptist Church of LaFollette, of which she remained a life-long member until her passing. She was also a tireless worker for many years for Republican Women of Campbell County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Alice Murray; brother, John Carden Murray; sister-in-law, Kathleen B. Murray of Philadelphia, PA. She is survived by her niece, Alice M. Ditzler and husband, Tom of Sunset Beach, NC; nephew, John C. Murray, Jr. of Kempton, PA and Paul W. Murray and wife, Rev. Grace M. Murray of Gates, NC; two great nephews and four great nieces; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sept. 27 at LaFollette First Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Harris officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
