PORTER, SALTSMAN, SWEENEY, SWEENY posted by Mary Susan Clark Dickstein on Sunday, September 13, 2009

I am a great granddaughter of Edward SWEENEY (sometimes SWEENY). Edward was the son of James SWEENEY and Mary Jane SALTSMAN. Mary Jane and James were married in Henry County, Ohio in 1859. They moved to Fulton County (York Township) sometime in the 1860's. It appears that James Sweeney was in the Union Cavalry during the Civil War. Edward moved to Illinois (possibly (Western Indiana) in the 1880's where he met and married my great grandmother, Mary Susan Davis. They settled near Georgetown, Vermilion County, Illinois. Edward, according to family tradition, died as a result of a motorcycle accident, possibly around 1905, and probably in Illinois. We also suspect a connection between the SWEENEY and PORTER families in Fulton County in the late 1800's - early 1900's. Any information would be very much appreciated, and we will be glad to share any we already have. My Mailing Address is P.O. Box 894, Richmond, Vermont 05477

BROWN, CARPENTER, TILLINGHAST, WOODS posted by Sharon Welsh on Saturday, November 7, 2009

I am researching Helen Beatrice CARPENTER (b. 1894), wife of Walter Converse BROWN (b. 1886), and the only Hellen/Helen Carpenter I could find was the adopted daughter of Jerome and Henryetta WOODS living in Fulton Co, OH, in 1900. There is a Eugene CARPENTER family living five dwellings away. Helen was mother of Pardon Tillinghast BROWN. I am trying to find out how the TILLINGHAST'S fit in with this BROWN family. Pardon TILLINGHAST was a famous man from Rhode Island. My mailing address is 2681 Vanderberg Ave, Columbus, OH 43204
