DRUHUT, WINSLER, WINTZLER, WINZELER, WINZLER posted by jay ott on Saturday, March 13, 1999

I am looking for info about an Ownie [female] WINTZLER who was born ca. 1877. She lived in Archbold with her uncle, Alexander DRUHUT. Ownie's father, Mathias WINTZLER, note spelling variations; WINSLER, WINZELER, and WINZLER was a Volunteer for B Company, 37th Regiment in the Civil War which was made up entirely of German-speaking Americans. On 28 Aug. 1894, Mathias took his own life by gas asphyxiation. My theory is that this Mathias WINTZLER is a son of a Mathias [1799-1882] and Anna WINZLER [1810-1884], however I have not been able to prove that relationship. I do know that Mathias and Anna came to the U.S. from Switzerland ca. 1845. and were farmers. They are buried in Toledo at Forest Cemetery.

Our questions are: 1) What year did the family move to Texas?, and 2) Where in Pennsylvania were her parents born? Please help us anyone with information about this ADAMS family. Thanks so much.
