Part II - Cox Family
The earliest mention of the Cox name occurred in connection with the House of the Norman Conqueror. Among the families of France that followed King William was that of Le Coq, namely Walter de Chilworth. He reminded his friends of a rooster the way he fought in battle. This was subsequently changed to Le Cock, and later to Cokkys, and from that to the more familiar name of Cox. The name may be spelled Cox, or Coxe.
The Cox family has confusion of facts in many places. The reader should prove what he can.

He was married/1 10 April 1672, to Christian Matthews, born 1649, England, and died 30 April 1679. Note: More proof is needed here. The dates for Christian do not add up.
He was married/2 to Anna Hind. The date given for their marriage may be 9 May 1672, which is shortly after the death of his first wife, if the date of her death is correct. Anna Hind was born in 1625, in London, and was still living when his will was written in 1709, and probably after he died in 1711. According to his will, she was the sister of John Antrim.
