Part I - Hezekiah Lamb and Hannah Small
Family Group "K"

Rebecca Ann Lamb
and
John Q Overman

Little is known at this time about the family of Rebecca Ann Lamb. The daughter of Hezekiah Lamb and Hannah Small, she was born in 1852, in Grant County, Indiana.

She was married 21 March 1871, (probably in Riverton, Fremont County, Iowa) to John Q Overman, carpenter, son of Stephen Overman and Polly Moorman. (For a full account of these ancestors (See: Overman and Moorman families in Part VIII).

From an old partially complete letter written by Walter V. Overman, and quoted in Mormon Archives, it states that John got his middle initial while in military service. John enlisted in the Civil War.; Date: On the Union side as a Corporal on 02 September 1863; Company C, 7th Cavalry Regiment Indiana; Transfered on 21 July 1865 from Company C to Company F; Mustered out Company C, 7th Cavalry Regiment Indiana on 18 February 1866

They were living in Riverton, Fremont County, Iowa, on the Census of 1800. They moved from Marion, Indiana, to Beatrice, Nebraska, where Ann had a millinery shop. According to Walter V Overman, widow Ann and girls were living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a few years before 1927.

At the time of her brother Hale’s death in 1932, Rebecca was living in Leavenworth, Kansas. One of sons disappeared and they never knew what happened to him.

On the Census of 1900, he was a Carpenter in Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska. At that time, they had been married 32 years, and 4 of their 6 children were still living.
