James Bundy II

James Bundy II, son of James I, was born in 1520, in Roxton, Bedfordshire, England, and married to Mary ____, who was born in 1530.

James Bundy Bundy III

James Bundy Bundy III, son of James II and Mary ___, was born about 1583, in Roxton, Bedfordshire, England.

He was married 8 November 1601, to Agnes Child, age 15, in Roxton, Bedfordshire, England, who was born about 1580, Roxton, and died in Roxton. He died in England.

William Bundy, Elder

William Bundy, Elder, son of James Bundy and Agnes Child, was born 26 November 1618, in Roxton, Bedfordshire, England. He died in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England

He was married/1 to Ellinor Lnu, who was born in 1608. He was married/2 to Mary Scott Pierce, who was born about 1623.

William Bundy II

William Bundy II, son of William Bundy, Elder, and Ellinor Lnu, was born in 1630, in England.

He was married/1 by 1662, probably in Rhode Island to Elizabeth Lnu, who was born in 1640, in England. They are found in the Perquimans Precinct, Albemarle County, North Carolina. Elizabeth died 4 March 1676, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, shortly after the birth of her youngest child, Samuel.

He was married/2 in the home of his bride, 15th, 10th mo, 1683, in Nash County, North Carolina, to Mary Scott, who was born about 1649. She the widow of John Pearse (Pierce), who had died in 1682; she was the daughter of Joseph (1650-1682) and Mary Scott. She had a brother, Caleb Scott.

William died 27 March 1692. His widow, Mary, was married again, 30 June 1692, to Nicholas Simons. Mary died 22d 3m 1724.

  2. Caleb Bundy, born about 1667, Pasquotank County, North Carolina

  3. Hannah Bundy, born about 1670, married 1692 to John Lawrence, son of William Lawrence and Rachel Welch

  4. William Bundy, died unmarried, owned 130 acres of land.

B. Caleb Bundy (1)

Caleb Bundy (1), son of William and Elizabeth Bundy, was born about 1667, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

He was married 24 July 1690 to Jane Maners (Jean Marres), born about 1669, daughter of Perigrene Marres of Albemarle County, North Carolina.

Caleb was a member of the Legislature, or House of Burgesses as early as 1700-9. In the middle 1690’s the Rent Roll of Albemarle, listed him as owning 175 acres.

They were at Pasquotank Monthly Meeting, where she died 23 November 1719, and he died 1 March 1721. His will was dated 25d 2m 1721, and proved 19 February 1721/2. His 3 youngest children died at about the same time.

  1. John Bundy, died 22 February 1731; married 16 May 1716, Elizabeth Keaton, died 17 March 1731 daughter of Henry Keaton, (Keaton Family, Part VIII)

  2. Benjamin Bundy, died 13 August 1723

  3. Samuel Bundy (3), born 1701, died October 1750; sole heir of his father’s land; married 8m 4d 1731, in Perquimans Monthly Meeting to Jane Moore, who died 4 August 1742, daughter William Moore and Elizabeth MacBride (See: Moore Family)

E. Samuel Bundy, Sr.

Samuel Bundy, Sr., son of William and Elizabeth Bundy, was born 4 February 1676/7, in Perquimans County, North Carolina.

He was married/1 in the home of Henry White of Pasquotank County, 5d 10m 1696, to Tamar Symons, who was born 4 October 1680, daughter of Jeremiah and Ann Symons. She died 17 March 1719/20 shortly after the birth of her youngest child. (See: Symons Family) Sam owned 110 acres in the l690’s.

He was married/2 11 May 1721, to Ann Nicholson, daughter of Samuel Nicholson, and Elizabeth Charles (See: Nicholson Family, Part II)

He died 14 March 1740. His will was dated 6 January 1737.

On 7 August 1743, Ann Bundy, relict (widow) of Samuel Bundy, was disowned by the Monthly Meeting for keeping a “Bachellour,” (Abraham Hendrix, whom she desired to marry,) in her household, which consisted of herself and young son, Abraham.

On 1 October 1743, it was reported that she was married out of unity, but her will dated 16 November 1743, was proved in December 1744, as Anne Bundy, widow of Samuel. She died 16d 9m 1743. Birth order of Children 9, 10, 11 is uncertain.

E-2. Josiah Bundy (1)

Josiah Bundy, son of Samuel Bundy, Sr. and Tamar Simons, was born about 1700, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

He was married in 1735, to Elizabeth Barrow, widow Moore, who was born 5 November 1715, in Pasquotank County daughter of Joseph Barrow and Jane Nicholson. (See: Tilden Family, Sutton, Barrow Family, and Nicholson Family.)

Josiah died in 1760, and Elizabeth died 23 December 1796, both in Pasquotank County There were probably other children.

  2. Joseph Bundy, born 1738, died 28 March 1762, Pasquotank Monthly Meeting, North Carolina; married 1 March 1758, to Sarah Bogue, born 1738. Had a son, Joseph who married Elizabeth Henley, daughter of Joseph Henley and Mourning Anderson

  3. Josiah Bundy, Jr., born 12 April 1748, in Pasquotank Co; married Mary Symons, daughter of Jehosaphat Symons and Linda Bundy, born 13 February 1745, Pasquotank Co; died 5 December 1813. (See: Symons Family)





E-5. Gideon Bundy (1)

Gideon Bundy (1), son of Samuel Bundy, Sr. and Ann Nicholson, was born 22 March 1723, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

Gideon was only 16 years old, on 6 July 1739, when on his behalf, his father requested a certificate to permit him to marry. He was married 3 August 1739 to Miriam Bogue, who was born 11 March 1716, at Perquimans, North Carolina, daughter of William Bogue and Ellener Perisho. (See Bogue and Perisho Family) Gideon died 19 February 1762, and Miriam died 14 March 1762.

Children:

  1. Lydia Bundy, born 2 October 1740. She was married 4 August 1757, to Obediah Small. (See: Small Family)

  2. Samuel Bundy (4), born 27 October 1742/3

  3. Sarah Bundy (2), born 4 August 1745, married 22 January 1767 (w/3) to Joseph Newby, son of Benjamin Newby and Susanna Griffin. (See: Part II Newby Family)

  4. Jehu Bundy, born 17 January 1748, married 15 March 1772 to Lydia Griffin, daughter of Joseph Griffin (See: Part VIII Griffin Family). Sons were in Randolph County, North Carolina in 1797, then to Back Creek Monthly Meeting, North Carolina

  5. Miriam Bundy (1), born 27 October 1753

  6. Christopher Bundy, born 20 April 1758, veteran Revolutionary War; died 6 March 1836 Salisbury, Indiana; married 2 October 1782, to Margaret Hill, born 9 September 1763

Josiah Bundy, Jr., son of Josiah Bundy (1) and Elizabeth Barrow, was born 12 April 1748, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

He was married 25 December 1766, at SC Meeting House, North Carolina, to Mary Symons, born 13 February 1745, in Pasquotank County daughter of Jehosaphat Symons and Linda Bundy (See: Symons Family)

Josiah and Mary both died 5 December 1813, in Pasquotank County There were probably other children.

Children:

  1. Gulielma Bundy, married 8 March 1797 at public meeting, near Symons Creek, to Christopher Morris, son of Aaron Morris Jr and Margaret Nicholson

E-52. Samuel Bundy

Samuel Bundy, son of Gideon and Miriam Bogue, was born 27 October 1742/3. He was married 9 March 1763, to Huldah Hill, who was born 18 September 1737, died 14 March 1782, Back Creek Monthly Meeting, daughter of Aaron Hill and Margaret Chappell. Sam moved to Guilford County, North Carolina in 1778, and was on the tax rolls of Randolph County, in 1779.

Children:

  1. Mary Bundy (3), born 1 December 1763; died 7 December 1834; married 23 March 1783 to John Albertson, (son of Joshua Albertson, married 16 February 1774 to Elizabeth Pritchard.) (Joshua was disowned for trading in slaves) Mary and John are buried in the Blue River Friends Cemetery, in Washington County, Indiana

  2. Miriam Bundy (2), born 11 January 1766

  3. Margaret Bundy (1), born 3 April 1771

  4. William Bundy (3), born 4 March 1777

E-54. Jehu Bundy

Jehu Bundy, son of Gideon Bundy and Miriam Bogue, was born 27 October 1742/3.

He was married 15 March 1772, to Lyda Griffin, daughter of Joseph Griffin. Sons Gideon and Reuben were in Randolph County, North Carolina, in 1797, then to Back Creek Monthly Meeting.

Children:

  1. Gideon Bundy (2), born 31 March 1774; died 12 July 1857; married 12 June 1800, Rachael Crowe, died pre 1823, daughter of Reuben Crowe and Abigail; They moved to Harrison County, (Now Orange County) Indiana, and attended the first Lick Creek Monthly Meeting, east of Paoli on 25 September 1813.

Josiah Bundy, (3), son of Josiah Bundy, Jr. and Mary Simons, was born 11 November 1786, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

He was married 20 December 1809, in Pasquotank County, to Hulda Jones, who was born 15 November 1777, in Pasquotank County, daughter of Joseph Jones and Mary Overman. (See Overman Family, Part VIII)

Josiah was married a second time

Children:

  1. Hulda Bundy, born 17 January 1810, Pasquotank County She was married 26 March 1835 in Fairmount Monthly Meeting, Grant County, Indiana, to Part II D-4(11). Phineas Lamb, son of John A. Lamb and Sarah Smith.
