Stephen Hales, son of Thomas Hales and Mary Wood, was born 7 September 1677, in Beckesbourne, Kent, England, and died 04 January 1761 in Leddington Parish, Middlesex, England. He was married in 1720, to Mary Newce, who was born about 1680, in Much Hadham, Hertford, England.

James Hale, son of Robert Hales, was born about 1737, England.

He was married in 1767, in East Shores, Somerset County, Maryland, to Catherine Baird, who was born in 1741 (in Wales?.)

Catherine's parents:

William Baird was born in 1713, in Monmouth, New Jersey, died about 1792, in Hagarstown, Maryland, the son of John Baird and Mary Osbourne. He married Margaret ___.

James and Catherine moved to Green County, Ohio, in 1795, 7 years before Ohio became a state.

James died in 1 July 1801/2 in Clark's Run, Mason County, Kentucky; Catherine died in 1836 in Randolph County, Indiana, buried Spartanburg, or Arba Cemetery. County, Kentucky, buried Clarks’s Run.
