Son of the late Albert Dutoit according to the marriage contract of 1768. Albert is identified through his death record in 1750, and he is certainly not the same Albert whose daughter Susanne married in Geneva the next year.
Jeremie Andr� was one of the Andr� Dutoits mentioned in notarial records of Geneva. A document of Jean Jaques Choisy, notary, 11 jun 1745, has Andr� Dutoit acting for his first cousin Jean Antoine Dutoit of Bercher in reference to a debt. This would
have to be a different Jeremie Andr�, apparently another son of Joseph Dutoit of Bercher. A document of 1754 seems to concern a similar debt, and reveals that Jean Antoine had a brother Jean Fran�ois and was the son of the late Pierre Dutoit, but
unfortunately appears not to give further details about Andr�. It is clear from the baptismal records of Geneva that there were two Jeremie Andr� Dutoits, the younger named after the elder.

Information in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) gives birthplace as "Milden", which is certainly incorrect. Information on his descendants, apparently accurate as to filiation but in error for birthplaces, and very poorly documented, is taken from the IGI. The baptismal record, in his father's peculiar hand, seems to give his name as "Auguts", but it is susceptible to other readings as well.
Appears several times in church and notarial records as late as 1612. A record of Jaques Daniel Fauchieres, notary at Moudon, 21 feb 1646, mentions Esther Demierre, widow of Jonas Dutoit. Esther is also mentioned in the church registers in 1621, at which time Jonas is still living. He is cited as conseiller de Moudon as late as 03 apr 1629 (Baltazard DeCristaz, notary).
Parentage uncertain. The marriage record says he is the son of Jean Dutoit of Lisse. The record of the baptism of his son and other records suggest he is another son of Niklaus.
One record says he is of Neufchatel, referring to his most recent prior residence, but the others give Lyss, where his family had citizenship. He was a "graveur" or designer of "indiennes", printed cloth for international trade. One destination for this trade was Africa, a key part of the "triangular trade" that supported slavery.
The baptismal date for Joseph is too close to that of his younger brother Adam, so it remains possible that there is something wrong with one or the other of these entries. Besides the possibility that one of them has been recorded with the wrong year, it cannot be discounted that the parentage of one or the other may have been recorded incorrectly. But a reconnaissance in ACV Fn 439 for Joseph and Jaques sons of the late Fran�ois Dutoit son of Pierre tells us that Joseph belongs here.
Document of B. Giraudet, notary, 05 mar 1649, concerns Jean DeCristaz, tuteur of Susanne, daughter of the late Joseph Dutoit. There does not seem to be another Joseph Dutoit of this generation. His parentage, the name of his wife, and that of her first huband are given in a record of Baltazard DeCristaz, notary at Moudon, 01 jun 1632.
Upon completing an apprenticeship with Nicolas "Liticq" in Lausanne, he obtained a recommendation from his master on 13 jul 1627 (Samuel Fran�ois, notary of Lausanne, ACV DS 117/3 fol. 48v):

Comme ainsi soit que maistre Nicolas Liticq originel de Vourmere (?) en Alemagne � present bourgeois et seillier de Lausanne ayet cy devant receu pour aprentis en son art et mestier honnorable Joseph fils d'honnorable Elie Dutey Bourgeois de Moudon lequel Joseph Dutey ayant demeur� le terme de son apprentissage avecq ledit Liticq son Maistre d'avecq lequel desirant se retirer pour suivre aileurs sondit mestier et voir par mesme moyen d'autres contr�es et pays, iceluy auroit requis audit son Maistre son cong�s avecq atestation du contentement de son service. Communicant at Bercher, 1674. The gap between his children, 1688-1702, makes us suppose that there are several baptisms still to be found. He is thus the most likely parent of the Andr� Dutoit, first cousin of Jean Antoine Dutoit of Bercher, who appears in various records at Geneva as early as 1726. Confirmation that Joseph actually had a son Andr� is found in ACV DG 189 ("notaires divers, notamment Pierre Carrard") in a document of 20 jan 1722, naming Josias, Daniel, and Andr� as his three sons, regarding a debt.
Mentioned as the son of Pernon Cortesy and her first husband Daniel Dutoit in a record of Jaques Daniel Fauchieres, notary at Moudon, 30 nov 1679, witnessed by her adult son Joseph Dutoit. He is noted alive in 1685, dead by 1687. His must be the baptism in the deacon's register at Moudon giving parents as Daniel Dutoit and Pernette Dutoit. As his brother Antoine inherited from his estate, it is likely that he left no widow or descendants.
We identify him with the Joseph son of David Dutoit of Neyruz who appears at a baptism in 1764. By 1772, he requested a sort of letter of recommendation, indicating that he was going to London to seek his fortune (Jaques David Burnand, notary, ACV DL 11/10, the document seeming to be a bit confused but clearly naming his mother).
Communicant at Bercher, 1677. Listed as cordonnier and native of Berch� in Switzerland, bailliage of Yverdon, at the time of his marriage. He and his bride were then living in the parish of St. Anne's, London. As of 1700 they were on "Rue Prinstreet".
Mentioned with her husband in a document of Isaac Dutoit, notary, 13 apr 1686. While it seems likely that she is the Judith baptised in 1662 at Thierrens, it is possible this is an error. A document recorded 29 sep 1679 by Jaques Crausaz, notary at Moudon (ACV DL 24), says that Jean Chevalley is the "beau-fr�re" (probably signifying brother-in-law in this instance) of the children of Antoine Dutoit, Lieutenant de Chavannes. Was Judith instead a daughter of Antoine Dutoit? Or was it a different Jean Chevalley? The one who was brother-in-law of the children of the Lieutenant was from Champtauroz.
From the birthdate of her last known child, she must have been born no earlier than 1659. It is tempting to think she was a sister of Claudine Dutoit, first wife of Baltazard Crausaz, and of Susanne Dutoit, first wife of Antoine Dutoit, Lieutenant de Chavannes, thus making brothers-in-law of Baltazard, Antoine, and Jean Chevalley. Each of these relationships is mentioned in various documents, but not in a way that is clearly explained. Further, Judith would have to be much younger than Claudine and Susanne.
