In some census records, Rebecca indicates her mother was born in Massachusetts. It is possible that this is actually true, implying that the Smith family did not come to PA until a bit later than we thought. It is also possible that she was simply repeating a story that the family was "from Massachusetts". Marriage records for the last 2 daughters give Rebecca's maiden name as Newman, confirming that we have the right family.

The Bgoz genealogy calls him Thobald Neyroud. In the church records of Aubonne, the name is somewhat ambiguous; Noirod or Voirot are also possible readings. However, in the terriers, he is definitely Jean Jaques Neyroud.
