"George William Gregory was one of the first M.D.'s to practice
in Corpus Christi. He practiced with Dr. Spohn (Spohn Hospital)
and also had an office in Taft, Texas. The town of Gregory,
Texas is named for him. He also brought the first chiropractor,
the famous blind Dr. Detes, to south Texas. Both of his sons
became chiropractors as did his great grandson and namesake,
James Clark Gregory Herring.
Dr. Gregory was of the first Doctors in the Corpus Christi area.
He practiced with Dr. Spohn and also had a clinic in Taft,
Texas. The town of Gregory, Texas is named for him. He also
helped to start the Chiropractic college in Portland, Tx. His
two sons, G.C and Dave became chiropractors."

"Their youngest son Samuel Evans Wilds Pegues married Hannah
(Annie) Saunders (Sanders) of Darlington District, SC. She
lived forever and had a collection of family data. Her
grandaughter sent me the record she had made of her family and
on it she had copied a record written which included the Hodges
family.
"My great grandmother was Phoebe Hodges.
1. Her husband name was Elias or Philip Hodges.
2. My grandmother was Elizabeth Hodges - she married Thomas
Evans.
3. My mother remembers having a brother Elias who died in
infancy.
Mother had an uncle named George Hodges and an aunt named
Cecelia who married a Dubose and moved to Georgia. Another aunt
who married a Mr. Bucles who also moved to Georgia. She took
charge of my uncle Able Evans at his mother's death, he being at
that time an infant aobut 10 days old".

3. Cecelia who married a Dubose and went to GA.
4. ? married a Bucles and went to Georgia.
3. Elizabeth Hodges Evans married 1811. Christopher B. Pegues
