Anna & Geo. Cook jr. lived at W. Bridge St. in Almonte with her parents, Nellie (Nancy) & Geo. Illingworth. Also wish info. on Alice Cook b. 1875 in London, Eng. Alice was the sister of Geo. In 1820 William Jack & his wife Mary Hood (married 30 Jan. 1811 in Barony, Lanark, Scotland) along with James Hood & his second wife, Margaret Bislen and other members of the Jack & Hood Families ( including two Jack members with the forename James) arrived in Canada on the ship "Prompt" and settled in Lanark County, Dalhousie Township, in the area known as Hood Corners. William Jack relinquished his land in Lanark Co. and resettled in Simcoe County, Innisfil Township. John White Jack (2nd son of William/Mary) married Jane Hood (daughter of James Hood and his 1st wife Elizabeth Jones) was Velda Leask's great grandfather. Would appreciate being in contact with other descendants of these families to share information. |
