Salter | 1800 + | My name is John Salter. I live in
Long Island N.Y. and I am researching a Salter family that settled in Montague about 1820 on Lot 19 Con 10 from Ireland. The parents of this family were Peter Salter(abt1800-1940) m Marcella Connors (abt1801-1862). There children were. 1. Catherine Salter (1823-) m Francis Griffith 2. Francis Salter (1825-) 3. Margaret Salter (abt1826 - ) m Thomas White (abt1819 -1848) - I have descendents 4. John A Salter (1828-1917) m Eleanor Garland (1837-1917) - I have descendents, this is my line 5. Mary Ann Salter (1828 -1917) m Douglas McTavish or Griffith 6. Alice Olive Salter (1833 - 1881) m Henry Leach (1833 - 1907) - I have descendents 7. Eliza Salter (1835 - 1908) m Henry Alfred Hawkins (1838 - 1863) - I have descendents 8. Peter William Salter (1837 -) m Jemima Leach ( 1836 -) - I have children I do not have the parents of Marcella Connors (abt1801-1862) but (some of) her siblings may have been Abner, Joseph, and Melissa. The parents of Peter Salter (abt 1800 - 1940) may have been John Salter (Saulter) m Ann Griffith and the parents of this John Salter may have been William Salter (Saulter) maybe m Martha Edwards (1755 -) . This would have been Marta Edwards second marriage. Her first marriage was to Robert Lewis. |

Scott | 1820-1860 | My great great grandfather was William McLACHLAN,
b 1817 or 1819 in Lochwinnoch, Scotland, son of John McLACHLAN and Ann HOUSTON. John and Ann immigrated to Ontario (Wellington co. in the early 1820s)At some point William moved from Lanark co. to Caledon, Peel co. apparently, but I don't know when, or for how long he had been in Lanark co. He married Lucinda SCOTT (b. 1834 in Caledon, Peel co.) probably sometime around 1852 and was a farmer in Caledon until his death in 1866. I believe he may have died as a result of a farming accident. Lucinda and William had seven children in all. If anyone has any record of the McLACHLAN family or HOUSTON family in Lanark co. I would be interested. |

I am researching the GOULD, HAYES, SIMPSON and WILSON
families in Smith Falls, Beckwith Twp and surrounds.
I have JASON GOULD, born 1801 in Roxbury, N.Y. married NANCY
SIMPSON, in 1834 in Smith Falls. Nancy appears to have
been born 1810 around Smith Falls. Also an ELIZABETH SIMPSON,
born 1788 is noted on a memorial stone in North Elmseley Twp, so is
related somehow!
Their son JAMES HENRY GOULD, b.1840 Smith Falls, married
CATHERINE HAYES in 1867. Catherine born 1839 in Smith Falls.
Their son JOHN JAY GOULD, born 1876 in Smith Falls, reportedly
married (?) ELIZABETH O'NEILL and had a son VANDA JAY GOULD. I
can find no record of a marriage or entry for birth of Vanda Jay (he
did exist though!!)
The name of WILSON is also within the family but am not sure
how it fits in.
Would anyone have ANY information of the above families.
Appreciate it very much. Marie in Sydney
Australia.

Sinnott | 1840+ | What happened to Elizabeth Sinnott's
parents? Elizabeth Sinnott was born in Smith Falls in 1860, the second child of John and Bridget Sinnott. The family is noted on the 1861 Census for Smith Falls. By 1871 Elizabeth now 11,was living with another family up in London, Ontario, where she grew up, married ,had 10 children . Elizabeth had an older brother John who also was with another family up in London in 1871, and we also think that there was another brother younger than Elizabeth who also was up in London with the same family as John in 1871. |

I'm looking for some information regarding the marriage of Andrew
