I am researching the GOULD, HAYES, SIMPSON and WILSON
families in Smith Falls, Beckwith Twp and surrounds.
I have JASON GOULD, born 1801 in Roxbury, N.Y. married NANCY SIMPSON,
in 1834 in Smith Falls. Nancy appears to have been born 1810
around Smith Falls. Also an ELIZABETH SIMPSON, born 1788 is noted
on a memorial stone in North Elmseley Twp, so is related somehow!
Their son JAMES HENRY GOULD, b.1840 Smith Falls, married CATHERINE
HAYES in 1867. Catherine born 1839 in Smith Falls.
Their son JOHN JAY GOULD, born 1876 in Smith Falls, reportedly
married (?) ELIZABETH O'NEILL and had a son VANDA JAY GOULD. I can
find no record of a marriage or entry for birth of Vanda Jay (he did
exist though!!)
The name of WILSON is also within the family but am not sure how
it fits in.
Would anyone have ANY information of the above families.
Appreciate it very much. Marie in Sydney Australia.

Query: Re John and Samuel Wright families of Ramsay Twp. Two years ago I posted to pioneer families on this board a bio of John Wright family. It was noted that they were natives of County Armagh Ireland. Has anyone come up with any parish location for them in Armagh? John's wife Jane Boyd was presumed to have come from Keady Parish Armagh but I have no info that John and Samuel did as it appears that John married in Lanark County rather than Ireland. |
