Ferguson | 1818 + | Need to find identity of the Duncan Ferguson (there are several Duncans) who married Margaret Echlin in 1841. Rev. MacAllister, Presbyterian Church officiated. Duncan came from Scotland about 1818 and may have settled in Drummond Township. Also would like the name of the Presbyterian Church that Rev. MacAllister belonged to. Thank You. | Mimi Rhodes | |
Ferguson | 1800+ | I am trying to help a fellow researcher
track down the area her ancestors are from. We are searching for
a Duncan Ferguson who married a Margaret King sometime in the early to
mid 1800s. They had one son we know of, Duncan King Ferguson,
who moved to New York State. Duncan Ferguson died right around the
time Duncan King was born, and Margaret about 10 years later, and
we're estimating Duncan King's birth to be about 1845. After his mother's death it is possible he may have been taken in by a Currie family. We would appreciate anyone who may have information, or advice on how to proceed to contact me at [email protected]. We have visited message boards, checked out resources available online, and the LDS center but all to no avail. We realize not having a County or Township makes it difficult, so we are now asking anyone else who may have a suggestion on where to look next, Thank you in advance, Leah |

FLYNN | 1823 - present |
James and Margaret FLYNN arrived
in RAMSAY in 1823 as part of the peter Robinson Settlers. With them
were sons William (possible middle name Henry) and Daniel and Johann
or John (depending on which Robinsons lists you look at). I think
there may have been another child - James with them too.
In 1823, James was about 31, Margaret 28 and
William 10, John 8 and Daniel 3.James Jr.would have been youngest
and may actually not have been born until the family was in Canada.
His death registration says that he was born in Ireland. James
Jr died in Delta in 1909.
I have no record for the death of James or
Margaret.
The family was given West half of Lot 9
Concession 12 Ramsay Township. I don't know if they stayed beyond
the time necessary to get legal possession or not.
In the 1852 census, James and Margaret are in
Leeds Grenville (Augusta area) with their son William H and his
family. Their son Daniel is also there - visiting from New York. I
do not know if James and Margaret moved from Ramsay to Augusta area
or were also just visiting in that census.
The family is Catholic and are said to have come
from Cork - some records say Liscarroll.
James has a son James born about the time the
family comes to Canada (his age and birthdate change like the
seasons!) and he married Julia Launderville from the Throoptown
Garretton area of Augusta. They had a large family - one daughter
Elizabeth married Joe belanger in 1890. Those are my grandparents.
I would particularly like to know:
1. Did James and Margaret stay in Ramsay?
2. Given the location of the land, if they
stayed, what cemetery would they likely be in?
3. Where in Ireland did they come from?
Liscarroll Cork?
If anyone has any information at all to do with
this family, please contact me.
