McDonald | Early 1800's |
Henry McDonald lived in the township of Drummond
in the Year of 1880 he was 91 years old. Henry was a native of
Scotland, he also was Drummond township treasurer. He fought in
quite a few wars, being battles engaged in British Military,
battle of Copenhagen, Battle of Martinique, Sackett's Harbor,
Lundy's Lane which he was taken prisioner until the end of war..
Henry sr. was we believe married to an Indian Woman and this is why he
wasn't recongized until 1880 in the census. He remained in
Drummond until his death. We cannot find out the date of his death
or the names of his children. He was married two times and
also the Indian Woman. We found out he had a brother named George,
he was born in Drummond in 1820, he married in 1844. Henry Sr.
also had one son that we found in the Chesley Enterprise. This one
son had the name of Joseph Paisley. They had different last names
as you can see. Any more information or pictures of Henry perhaps
from a school or the Township hall in which he worked would be very
great.

McKinnon | 1821+ | John McKinnon of Dalhousie Twp, E lot 8 conc 11 arrived on the George Canning in June of 1821 and settled in July that year. He seems to have arrived with John McKinnon Sr. and Donald McKinnon. They settled in Dalhousie close to John Jr. One is likely his father and the other an uncle. I would like to know which is which if anyone can tell me. John Jr. married Anne Stuart. They are buried in Crawford Cemetery. John died Nov 14, 1880 and Annie in 1900. In the 1851 census they have children: Donald, Flora, John, Hugh, Ronald (or possibly Randolph) Jacob, James, David and Margaret and Elizabeth. I think Elizabeth married a Graser. Flora married William Paul son of Andrew Paul and Jane or Jean Muggo. They are buried in Crawford Cemetery. Flora (recorded as Florence) died Sept 14, 1902. William died June 21, 1906. Jane Muggo is buried with them and died in 1885. McLachlan | 1820-1860 |
My great great grandfather was William McLACHLAN, b 1817 or 1819 in
Lochwinnoch, Scotland, son of John McLACHLAN and Ann HOUSTON. John
and Ann immigrated to Ontario (Wellington co. in the early 1820s)At some point William moved from Lanark co. to Caledon, Peel co. apparently, but I don't know when, or for how long he had been in Lanark co. He married Lucinda SCOTT (b. 1834 in Caledon, Peel co.) probably sometime around 1852 and was a farmer in Caledon until his death in 1866. I believe he may have died as a result of a farming accident. Lucinda and William had seven children in all. If anyone has any record of the McLACHLAN family or HOUSTON family in Lanark co. I would be interested. |

brother-in-law, could you help me please?
Robert McLean married Eliza Cunningham
(date and place unknown).
What IS know is that their son Robert
McLean married Mary McPartland or McParland or even McParlan on November
29th of 1880 at St-John-Baptist in Perth. Would be interested to know
where their respective parents come from. Have looked in the Catholic
Register from Perth and have found nothing. Thanks for your help.

McPherson | 1871 - 1897 | The reason they moved to Hastings Co., Mayo Twp. From passed down information it is believed that they moved because of a locust (grasshopper) famine. I was trying to narrow down the window, to the time these and other families moved to Carlow or Mayo Twps. I have my grandfather Wm Peacock in the Reserve Militia in 1871 in Lanark and have him getting married in Mayo Twp in March of 1897. So if I could find out the year of the famine (if there was one) then would know about when they moved to Mayo Twp. | Blanche Colquhoun | |

of Watson's Corners and moved with her to Saskatchewan. The two had a son
Forrest Lloyd Craig in Saskatchewan and moved to Prince George B.C. Lloyd
Craig died in Vancouver, B.C. sometime between 1947 and 1955.
I am his grandson.
Thank you for any help that you may be. I have travelled to Watson's

McVeigh |
1870 + |
My name is Robert McVeigh and I seek info about my clan and the best I can come up with is that my grandfather was born in1876 in Perth Ontario or around Smith falls. His name was John Henery McVeigh and he was a blacksmith who moved west around the turn of the century and married a woman named Jenny Spence and I think she was from BC . My dad allways said he had a cousins who played in the old NHL and was called the Rabbit[McVeigh]. Met a girl from Ont. in 1985 time named Leslie McVeigh who said her granddad was the Rabbit but I lost track of her . Any help ? |
