DEWSTOW / HALLOCK Dewstows of Paisley - Bentinck. Am looking for information on g/grandmother, Sarah Viola Dewstow and family. Sarah's father was William, mother, Jane. Would like to know of siblings, and William and Jane's birthdates. Sarah married Lorenzo Dow Hallock and moved to Meaford. Any information about these ancestors would be appreciated. Thank you. WHITMAN Looking for any information on the family of John and Matilda Whitman. Their children Susan, William , Mary, Hannah, Laura, Edward, Honor, John and Charles. The family moved to Albemarle about 1878 so from the daughter Honor on all the children were born in this area. The family was in Carlyle, Saskatchewan by 1901. HOGG / ARMSTRONG Alexander Hogg married Sarah Armstrong in 1868 in Melancthon, Grey Co. Their children were Thomas, Susan and David and possibly more. David was born in Albermarle, Bruce Co. in 1889. I was able to find Samuel on the 1881 census in Keppel. I believe I found Sarah buried at Edgehill Cemetery. Patricia Greber - e-mail [email protected]   December 16, 2002


ROBERTSON - CAMERON. Seeking information concerning Ross ROBERTSON who married E. E. (Eva) CAMERON on 21 Feb. 1861 in Kincardine. I believe he was the son of Ross ROBERTSON and Hannah SIMMONS and she was the daughter of Allan CAMERON. The 1881 Census finds her, age 45 still living in Kincardine with 5 children, but he is gone, perhaps dead. Reply to Ross Petty, [email protected]   December 16, 2002

James COCHRAN & Harriet (RANKIN) These folks just disappeared. They are both Ontario born, James in 1839 and Harriet in 1848. Their families lived in Bruce County across the road from one another. (William Cochran & Margaret/Mary/Foffet; and James Rankin and Helen Clinkscale.) James & Harriet were married on 1 Aug. 1868 in Bruce Co., and had 4 children; Ellen, 1969; Mary Ann, 1871; Jane/Jennie, 1873 and John, 1880. McCARTY - seeking any information on Jeremiah and Ellen (White) McCarty and family. Jeremiah appears in 1867 directory in Carrick. His daughter Margaret lists immigration date to Canada as 1845.  [email protected]   November 13, 2002


ZETTLER - seeking information on Joseph and Anthony, located in Carrick in 1861 census. Looking for death record of Joseph, land records and immigration records for Anthony and home town in Germany. Have immigration record (Germany to New York City) of Joseph with other members of family in 1854. Appears that Anthony came earlier. Anthony married Margaret McCarty. ALLAN - ELLIOT I have put my father's ancestors on a web site. The Allan family includes  his grandparents, William and Margaret (McDonald ) Allan,  his parents,  James and Margaret (Elliot) Allan. He was  born in Teeswater.  On the maternal side, John Scott Elliot and Margaret (Scott) Elliot.  The Elliots came to Culross about 1850 from Roxburgh, Scotland.  The Allans came from Barony Scotland to Quebec. SCOTT, WHITE, BONE William Scott and wife Isabella White came from Melrose, ROX, Scotland to Ontario sometime before 1851. They are listed in the Elderslie 1871 census. William died Sept 1874 and Isabella died June 1875 - both listed in Paisley death records. I did not find a grave for either in Paisley. Is it possible to find out if they are buried there? The daughter and her family - Christina Scott Bone, James Bone, & dau Isabella have a stone there. Also where would I find land/deed records? LITTLE - William and his brother John (b. Sept.,1822, d. Jan. 2, 1878) moved from Chinguacousy, Peel County, to Brant Twp, Bruce County in 1852. I know that John states that he was born in Roxburghshire, Scotland in a county atlas, but I cannot locate the town or parish in Scotland, or which cemetery he is buried in. As well, I cannot locate any dates of birth or death for William Little or where he was born. Their parents were William Little (Chinguacousy, Peel County) and (H)ellen Forster (Foster?) and they came from Scotland in 1833. She apparently died at sea giving birth as they approached Canada. McKENZIE Seeking information - descendants of SIMON McKENZIE (1804) and ANN McKENZIE (1806) from Sutherlandshire, Scotland who settled in Kincardine about 1854. Their children were Katherine (1833), Kenneth (1836), Murdock (1838), Hector (1842), Dolina (1844), Christina (1853) and Ann (1855). Murdock and his wife Johanna McDonald emigrated to Michigan. DEAN, Arthur - b: January 05, 1894 Oxford, Oxfordshire, England; emigrated to Canada 1907; lived Walkerton, Ontario, Canada area 1907-1930; m: about 1912 Miss Etsell, Walkerton, Ontario; hired as lighthouse-keeper for Southampton 1931 season; d: November 1930 as the result of wood-cutting accident in Walkerton area. HAMILTON, William (Sr.) b.1839 in Ireland migrated to Lucknow, Bruce County. Had a brother named Isaac and a sister named Elizabeth who married a Robert THOMPSON in Ontario. Had eight brothers and 2 sisters, above included. Arrived about 1850 in Lucknow, Bruce County. Some migrated to Fraser Valley British Columbia about 1886 and 1887. Would like to know William's wife's name and other siblings that stayed in Ontario. William left Ontario with his 4 sons Archibald (Big Archie), William Jr. (Black Bill), Joseph and James. MINDLE In search of siblings/children of Francis MINDLE b-1850 Germany (brother to Christopher MINDLE) s/o Christian and Catherine MINDLE married Amelia HILKER d/o of Henry and Sophia HILKER. I am looking for information about a John WALKER from Kilkenny, Ireland who married a Marianne or Eliza BAIRD from Fermanagh, Ireland and settled in Kincardine, Ontario in the mid-19th century, having a son John Wesley WALKER, my great-grandfather, who moved to Victoria, BC, and a daughter Martha who became Martha STEWART and remained in Kincardine, having several STEWART children there. I can provide lots of information about the Victoria branch of the family in return for information about the Ontario branch, and hope also for information about the Irish antecedents of both branches.
