The Publication "Bruce Township, Tales and Trails" lists the above Andrew as the son of Robert and Elizabeth (FULTON) CURRIE of Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, Scotland. My Robert CURRIE and Elizabeth (FULTON) CURRIE also came from Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, Scotland. In 1854 Thomas, John & William Lean / Lane bought land in Greenock. Thomas con 3 lot 15, John was Con 3 Lot 11 and William was con Con 3 lot 1. John died between 1861 and 1871 his wife Agnes Lean died in 1882. Where would I find a death record for John since it's before 1869? William and his step-daughter Annie McDonald Lean are buried in the Baptist cemetery in Greenock. I cannot find a grave for John & Agnes Lean nor can I find a grave for Mary Nicholson / McDonald Lean. I am sure they must be in the same cemetery as William & Annie. Can anyone tell me where I can find a list of burials in Greenock dating back to 1861 and who are all buried with William. P.S. The listing on OCAF states that Annie was the wife of Joseph Lean - that is incorrect, she was the wife of James Lean & I have a picture of the headstone taken in the 1950s and it says James not Joseph. Thanks for any help you can give me. Gail Lane, at [email protected]. August 30, 2009

VANCE family: I'm collating the English, Scottish, Irish, American and other overseas VANCES in the hope of finally sorting out the connection between them and my family of VANS of Barnbarroch. My aim is to collect every (!) recorded Vance family and try to piece together the entire picture, using all the available sources and taking into account the genetic data. Can anyone help with any information you have about any VANCES (a gedcom would be ideal as it saves re-typing) and particularly any ideas, legends, or better still, knowledge, about their origins. Having all the available information may help in eventually finding some of the earlier generations in Ireland and Scotland. Best wishes, Jamie Vans.

METCALF(E) : If anyone is researching Metcalf lineage, would they be interested in sharing research? Thomas Metcalf, wife Hannah, and children: David, Jonathan, and Christopher (unmarried) arrived in Bruce County from Simcoe County, c. 1860s, settling in Greenock township. I already have a significant body of information, but am always seeking 'long lost relatives.' I am particularly seeking documented proof of early years in Simcoe County, immigration, and lineage predating immigration. Gregory Klages, gregoryklages at hotmail dot com. March 9, 2009

KLAGES / GEBHARDT : If anyone is researching Klages lineage (and those related by marriage), would they be interested in sharing research? Family arrived in Bruce County, c. 1860s, with concentrations around Neustadt and Sullivan County after approximately 1880. Gebhardt line connected to Klages by marriage (August Gebhardt to Elizabeth Klages, settled in Carrick township, c. 1860s). I already have a significant body of information, but am always seeking 'long lost relatives.' I am particularly seeking documented proof of lineage predating immigration to Canada. Related names include: LANG, KAUFMAN, RUHL, SIEGMAN (Neustadt). Gregory Klages, gregoryklages at hotmail dot com. March 9, 2009

GEORGE I am interested in learning about my great uncles Alexander George b. 1886 in Scotland, James George b. 1870 in Ontario and William George b. 1876 in Ayr, Ontario. They and their family moved to Bruce County from Scotland in about 1869. CAMERON Does anyone know anything about a John and Jane Cameron who lived in Saugeen, Bruce County in 1851? They were born around 1825. He was from Scotland and she from England. One of their sons was Charles D. Cameron born about 1847. I believe they had a daughter Elizabeth also. Laura at [email protected]. February 22, 2009
BCGS note: This family was on the 1851 census of Saugeen. John Cameron born Scotland age 26 occ Carpenter, Jane born England 24, and the children born in Canada Charles 4, Elizabeth 3 and Ellen 2.

STUBBS I am trying to determine if the Thomas John Stubbs who was living in Bruce County is the the same Thomas John in my research. According to Ontario death records a Thomas John Stubbs died in Walkerton, Bruce Co. Mar. 31, 1894. It also states that he was born in Quebec in 1821. This matches with the Thomas John Stubbs son of George Stubbs and Anne Tipper. I was wondering if anyone is researching the Stubbs family that can help tie this line for me. Thanks, Patricia Greber at [email protected]. January 10, 2009

MURRAY, Hugh: I have reason to believe that the Hugh Murray noted in the Bruce County history (teacher, postmaster, court clerk, etc., died 1902) was my great grandfather. I hope to contact descendants of Hugh and Katherine Murray. Hugh, born Sutherlandshire, Scotland 1833, emigrated to Canada 1857. Thanks. Hugh Murray at [email protected]. January 10, 2009
