DUSENBURY, GILMORE, NICHOLS, PRATT, SMITH, TANNER, WARNER posted by Beth Bourque on Friday, May 7, 1999
I'm interested in learning more about the Lois NICHOLS and Silas T. GILMORE family. They are both buried in the Old Settlement Cemetery which also seems to abound with TANNERs. Does anyone know if Silas T.'s middle name might be TANNER? The name Silas is a staple in the TANNER line. I would love to hear from anyone who knows a little bit about this cemetery and I would be very interested in hearing from descendants of this couple or of Lois NICHOLS' sisters and brothers Cleora (Wm. SMITH?), Relief (Richard DUSENBURY?), Granville (Sarah WARNER?), Orville (Lavira PRATT?), (Chora, or Ruth) who lived in the area. Hezekiah NICHOLS was Lois' father and I can take this line back several generations, paternally. Thank you.

EMERSON, HAYNES, PALMER posted by K. Wagner on Sunday, May 9, 1999
EMERSON, TIMOTHY wed twice; first wife unknown; their children were Charles, Harriett {she wed Mr. Palmer}, Major S., Martha E., and Ira B. Timothy's second marriage was to NANCY HAYNES {don't know where}. Their children are Catherine, James H., George W., Francis, Thomas, Joseph H., and Mark. Timothy Emerson was born about 1780-1800. Monroe, Michigan census records state he was born in MASS, NY, OH. He died on 06 Jan 1861 possibly in Monroe, MI where he resided at the time. I haven't found any records except his Will from Probate Court. Nancy was born in Virginia in 1816. She died 13 Oct 1886 in Monroe, Michigan and is buried there. Timothy is on the 1820 census records for Geauga County, and on the 1840 census for Monroe County, MI. There is a Sarah Emerson buried in Monroe, MI whom I am assuming is Timothy's mother. Her grave marker says "Sarah Emerson born 1786, died 11 Apr 1837, wife of Timothy". This is all I know about my Emerson line. Can anyone help me?

FRENCH posted by Robin Crawford on Wednesday, May 26, 1999
Looking for the father of SAMUEL S. FRENCH born 10/2/1816 - death certificate states he was born in Parkman (Geauga County). Lived adult years in Farmington - Trumbull County until moving to Portage County about 1881. He died in Garrettsville (Portage Co) 10/25/1877. I think he had a brother SCHUYLER FRENCH (9/20/1813 - 4/25/1892) Place of death unknown. Both men buried in Trumbull County. I think Samuel's father was WAREHAM FRENCH - brother to AVERY and WILLIAM FRENCH that moved to Geauga County from NY (Otsego or Oswego Co)about 1813 - 1815. WAREHAM, SAMUEL AND SCHUYLER are only French families in Trumbull County on 1840 census. Biography of SAMUEL FRENCH'S son ALMON B. FRENCH states that Samuel's father was BYRON FRENCH - but I have never found a Byron French in Ohio or New York. Would like to correspond with anyone connected or who has info on this French family.

ADAMS, BARBER, BUSHELL, DIXON, EGGLESTON, KNAPP, NICHOLS, PALMER posted by Claudia Garner on Saturday, May 29, 1999
I've learned a little more about my Erastus Moses Eggleston. His brother was Joseph B. Eggleston of Huntsburg, Ohio. Joseph Eggleston, Sr., born in CT approximately 1776. Wife unknown. He had the following children: Marrilla, born 10/1804; Marcus, born 3/1809; Roxana, born 5/1811; Erastus Moses, born 3/1813; Joseph B., born 9/1821; Ann S., born 4/1827; and Charlotte, born 6/1829. Erastus married Sarah Elizabeth Nichols in Geauga County, 1843. I just learned today that Ann S. married Russell Dixon 5/20/1846, also in Geauga County. Erastus was married in Huntsburg, and I'd bet Ann was also. Joseph Sr. was living with Joseph B. late in life (I can't remember which census), so he probably died there too. Marrilla was married to Bennett Palmer, 1830, and had the following children: Anson, 1832; Oscar, 1835; and Charles, 1839. Marcus married Rhoda Bushell, 1830, and had the following children: Mason, 1853; Adelia A., 1836; and Hubert N., 1838. Roxana married Anson Barber 1829, and had Elihu, 1831; and Louisa, 1840. Joseph B. married Polly Ann Knapp, 1845, and had Emma R., 1848; Everett J., 1855; a son, 1859; and Elbert O., 1859. Polly Ann Knapp and Sarah Elizabeth Nichols were 1st cousins. Ann S and Russell Dixon had Celestia, 1846; Arthur, 1853; Finette, 1855; Minerva E., 1858. Charlotte married Austin Adams, 1852, and had 2 children. I am trying to tie the father, Joseph, to the Eggleston line in Stonington County, CT. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
