Looking for information about my ancestors, through some of their Segar/Seger, Peterson, or Smith descendants. My 3d ggm, Polly Faunce Scott, widow of Joseph Scott, m. Samuel D. Smith, widower, in 1862 in Huntsburg. Her daughter, Melissa Arvina Scott, m. Samuel's son, Joseph Smith, Civil War vet, in 1864 - also in Huntsburg. According to Joseph's obit in 1917, his surviving children were Mrs. D. W. Peterson of Mesopotamia; Mrs. G. H. Segar of Huntsburg; E. C. Smith and B. W. Smith of Chardon. Would love to hear from anyone who has information. I have some info and some pictures and would like to share for some of same. Thanks very much!

Searching for information about my ancestors from Middlefield, OH. James White died 1865 of smallpox in Civil War. His wife was Roseanna, or Susannah, Phillips of Wethersfield Twp. They are both buried in Middlefield cemetery. I don't know who Rosannah/Susannah's parents were. If anyone can provide info, I'd appreciate it very much. Also, since she lived until 1893 (died Hamden Twp), I'm hoping very much to locate a picture of her. I'm descended from their son, Walzo Allen White, a dentist in Orwell, and his 1st wife, Lillie Hughes. Walzo m. 2)Millie Leggett in 1891, and their dau. Myrtle was b. 1893. Thanks very much! My 3rd ggm Polly Faunce Scott Smith's 2d husband, Samuel D. Smith, died by drowning 3 Apr 1879. Can anyone tell me anything about how that might have happened? I believe he lived in Huntsburg at the time, and that's where he is buried. Thanks very much. Judy Davison

Seeking info on ALVA & ELIJAH HAMBLIN, brothers who were born in New York (1810 and 1812 respectively) who married in Geauga Co. OH in the late 1830s: 1. ALVA m. Almira Eggleston in 1838. Known children included HENRY H. HAMBLIN, born circa 1840 and SARAH MATHILDA HAMBLIN, born circa 1857. 2. ELIJAH m. Hannah Goodwin in 1837. One known child: ANDREW M. HAMBLIN, born circa 1839 and died 1864. Can anyone fill in missing info: parents of Alva and Elijah? Other siblings? Other children of each (especially Alva)?

Looking for the parents of Alfred LAMSON b. ~1825 married (14 Dec 1847 in Geauga Co.) Avaline SCOTT b.16 Jun 1829 (oldest d/o Lewis F. and Laura SCOTT of Troy Township, GEAUGA Co.). Alfred and Avaline LAMSON moved to Van Wert Co. Their first son was Horace Alfred LAMSON. Was this a coincidence? Or is Alfred's father Horace LAMSON of Geauga County who is originally from Crown Point, NY? I am a descendant of Capt. Thomas and Comfort SCOTT.

Looking for a Mr. & Mrs. MORTON who had a daughter, Victoria Evalyn Adelaide MORTON, born 11 Dec 1841 in Painesville, Lake Co OH. Have had no luck in Lake Co. Thought perhaps since Lake Co was so new in 1841 that the Mortons might have had connections in Geauga Co OH. Victoria ended up in Texas, married Isaac MIERS in 1866 and died in Sutton Co TX in 1913. Mrs Morton married William McKNIGHT before 1845, had daughter Virginia Elizabth McKNIGHT,born 1845-somewhere-MS, TX, LA? She was Victoria MORTON's half-sister. Virginia married Samuel Reid HILL in 1864 in TX- died in Navarro Co TX in 1926 Need to know name of Mrs. MORTON - McKNIGHT. In 1853, Washington Co TX Court minutes say William McKNIGHT is dead, and both girls share "an inheritance from their grandfather's estate in Ohio" This has to be the mother's father. There might be a link to the HINE family from Painesville, Lake Co OH. Washington HINE went from Painesville, Lake Co OH to Bell Co TX to the home of Virgin! ia MCKNIGHT Hill in 1868. My 2nd great-grandmother Mariah (Maria) M. Pool was born in or near Troy, Geauga County, Ohio. Her father was Fidelius or Phidelus Pool, mother unknown. Mariah was married to Calvin A. Abell (later changed to Abel) about 1840 in Troy, Geauga County, Ohio. My great-grandmother and maybe her siblings were also born in Troy, Geauga County, Ohio. Calvin A. Abel and family moved to Dodge County, Wisconsin where my great-grandparents Mariah (Maria) Theressa Abel and Vincent Coryell Andrews met and were married September 8, 1861. The Abel Family and my great-grandfather move on to Concord Township, Dodge County, Minnesota for the rest of their lives. 1. Calvin A. I am looking for information on Hezekiah(1787-1866) and Chloe HAWES(1788-1871)CLARK, and their descendents. Both are noted as dying in Chester Twnshp. of Geauga County. The couple married in Tioga Co.(in that part which would become Tompkins Co.), NY between 1810 and 1820. Both were born in Litchfield Co., Connecticut, he in Cornwall and she in Warren. His parents were Hezekiah and Sylvia HILL CLARK. Her parents were Isaac and Anna W(H)ITLOCK HAWES. Chloe's brothers Enoch and Iram Hawes also died in Geauga Co.

Harvey WOOLSEY (b. 1826,Wyandot Co. Oh.?), died 4/24/1872 in Burton Oh. He mar. Mary E. Spaulding (5/10/1852) in Geauga Co. Children: Keziah(Kittie),(b. 1852, Ill.); Arthur ,(b.1853,Ill).; Harriet (b.1856, Ohio); Wesley D. (b. 1862), Ohio; Mabel A. (b. 1864)in Ohio, and Mary B. (b.?) in Ohio. The Ohio births are recorded in Geauga Co. A H.Woolsey was discharged from Army Infantry due to disability. A Civil War pension was granted to invalid Mabel WOOLSEY in 1903, one year before her death in Akron (burial in Rock Creek, Ashtabula Co.; Obit.). I know Wesley's family history. A Kittie WOOLSEY mar. Henry T. MORRIS in 1883. NFI so far. Arthur may have mar. Josie FITTS (LDS)(3/1/1876, Lake Co.) but NFI. A Bertha WOOLSEY (dau. of Mabel) mar. Arthur JOHNSON, (son-in-law of Mabel, IN 1900 CENSUS) and a son and daughter known. Questions: Harvery's birth place and parents identity; Kittie's marriage and husband' identity and any decendants; Arthur's family.What happened to Harriet? Delos W. MORRIS, (b.11/4/1833,oh) married Anna WOOD 3/18/1862 in Parkman twp. Geauga Co. Oh. (online mar. records,vol? pg503). He also married Samantha E. FLICK 12/23/1885 in Trumbull Co.)Probate records). Delos W. was a son of Sidney R. Morris and second wife "widow MILLER" (Nancy, in another record),according to a descendant. Delos is indicated to live in Portage county. No mention of Delos and Anna as to children. Confusion is rampant. I'm hoping someone will see a link somewhere.

He had three children with his first wife (Mary Emma Hard) before she died... they wre Theresa Edna who married John GILLES, Susie and Mary Ann all born 1878 - 1883) HE remarried Emma SMITH and they had one son, Paul born 1895 in Cleveland Ohio who married Marion (?).
