Notes

"There was also a John Bangs in Plymouth in the early years, who was assigned hay ground on 20 March 1636/37 (PCR 1:56), and thus he would [p.239] seem to have been too old to have been a son of Edward Bangs, unless he was born to an earlier wife, and came over after his father. Of course, he could just as well have been a brother or no relation at all. There seems to be no other record of this John Bangs, and the name could even have been a spelling error for some other name, such as John Barnes. On 1 May 1660 George Watson asked the court on behalf of his son John Watson and his nephew John Bangs to correct a mistake in the records about a purchase of land in the Dartmouth area that should have been in the name of Mr. Robert Hicks (PCR 3:186); this John Bangs would have been the son of Edward, for Robert Hicks was his grandfather, and George Watson had married Hicks's daughter Phebe. This John Bangs was also mentioned as a grandson in the wills of both Robert Hicks and his wife Margaret Hicks (MD 8:143, 16:157). A genealogy of the family can be found in Dean Dudley, History and Genealogy of the Bangs Family in America (Montrose, Mass., 1896)."

William Fletcher III and his four oldest sons served in the Revolutionary War in Mayhew's Calvary of the South Carolina Militia. He served for twelve months and was paid for this service by the State of South Carolina in May, 1785 (see Book "Q", p. 229, South Carolina Rev. War Records, "Stub Entries to Indents").

In 1785, William Fletcher III moved his family to the northern portion of Georgia about Effingham and Bulloch Counties. Bulloch County Deed records (Book "A", p. 99) show a deed from Mr. Fletcher and his wife, Elizabeth, to Joshua Hodges, September 20, 1805, for 120 acres granted to him and lying on the south side of the Ogeechee River. Also found there in the same book (Book "A", p. 372) is a deed of gift from him to his sons, Thomas and Wiley Fletcher, "when they become of age", and dated October 3, 1818, conveying the 200 acres of land where he lived and his household goods.

It was in 1825, after having drawn land as a Revolutionary Soldier in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery, that he moved his family south to Telfair County.
William Fletcher III was listed on the 1830 Census of Telfair County and lived near Jacksonville, Georgia.

William Fletcher III "The Centenarian" lived to be 102 years old. He died 2 May 1831 in Telfair County, Georgia and was buried at the Old Concord Baptist Church. His grave has been marked by D.A.R.

Notes

"There was little information found in the record about Erasmus Gill. There were Gill families in Calvert, Anne Arundel, Charles and Baltimore Cos., but no connection was made to Erasmus. He was first found in Charles co. land records when he and Robert Gill wit. a deed 19 Jul 1751 This was probably the same person as Robert Gill, Jr. who m. 19 Nov 1747 Trinity Parish to Lydia Musgrave. The following record shows Erasmus was a tailor:
23 Sep 1754; from Arthur Lee of Charles Co., gent., to Erasmus Gill, taylor; 101-1/3 acres part of Labyrinth.

{ This book has lots of codes in it that documents where the information is found ]

Erasmus Gill's name can be found in estate records in both Charles and Frederick Cos. by the 1750s. He was one of the sureties for the estate of George Briscoe of Charles Co.in 1760 he was a creditor in the estate of Josiah Beall of Frederick Co. in 1768 and he appraised an estate in Frederick Co. 20 Jun 1770.

There was little information found in the records about Erasmus Gill. You may want to check out this site as it is where that book came from.www.WillowBendBooks.com Charlie."
