Louisiana Marriages to 1850; database 9/00

Old Churches, Ministers, and Families of Virginia. search. 9/00 Source Information: Meade, William. Old Churches, Ministers, and Families of Virginia, Volume I. Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1857. Largely settled by members of the Church of England, Virginia parishes changed rapidly in the growing colony. This database is a collection of records from these early parishes. Originally published in the mid-nineteenth century, it provides the names of many early ministers and parishes within the state. In many cases, a brief history of the minister and parish is included along with the names of prominent families. It contains the names of over 11,000 persons associated with these churches. For researchers of early Virginian ancestors, this can be an informative database.

Dale Parish, Chesterfield Co. VA. Source: Old Churches, Ministers, and Families of Virginia. Article XLI.

I have been furnished with a few leaves from the vestry-book of Dale parish, from the years 1790 to 1799, from which I am able to give a list of the vestrymen during that period. They are as follows:--Jerman Baker, John Botts, George Robertson, Richard Bosker, Blackman Morly, Thomas Bolling, King Graves, Arch. Walthall, Arch. Bass, Jesse Coghill, Daniel McCallum, Charles Graves, George Woodson, Henry Winfree, Roger Atkinson, Thomas Friend, Charles Duncan, Daniel Dyson, John Hill, Henry Archer.

On the same loose leaves we have a number of subscription-lists, on which are names well known to us at this day. The object, we presume, was for repairing the churches about the year 1790. Among them, besides the above-named vestrymen, were the following,--a few among many:--Osborne, Rowlett, Burton, Roisseau, Taylor, Gibbs, Royall, Shore, Worsham, Branch, Tanner, Randolph, Burwell, Goode, Ward, Clarke, Hardaway, Walke, Barber, Donald, Bragg, Epps, Belcher, Hodges, Marshall, &c.

[S1426] Description: Becoming the twenty-fifth state in 1836, Arkansas was home to hundreds of thousands of residents throughout the nineteenth century. This database is a collection of marriage records from Crawford, Hempstead, Pike, Washington, and Yell Counties between 1851 and 1900. Taken from microfilm copies of original county documents, each record provides spouses' names, marriage date, and county of residence. It provides the names of over 43,000 men and women. For those persons seeking ancestors from early Arkansas, this collection can be a useful source of information. Extended Description: This update adds the records from Crawford County. Crawford County lies on the Arkansas River, on the most western border of Arkansas. It was created in 1820 from Pulaski County. The county seat is Van Buren.

Yell County records span 1859 to 1900. The county is located along the Arkansas River in the western part of the state. It was created in 1840 from neighboring Pope and Scott Counties. Danville and Dardanelle are the county seats.

Hempstead County records span 1851 to 1899. The county is located along the Little River in southwestern Arkansas, near the border with Texas. Hope is the county seat.

Pike County records span 1875 to 1900. The records for 1877 to 1881 were extracted from the County Court House. The county is located in southwestern Arkansas. Murfreesboro is the county seat.

Washington County records span 1863 to 1900 and is located in northwestern Arkansas, on the border with Oklahoma. Fayetteville is the county seat.
