MACDONALD, J. Charles

J. Charles Macdonald, 64, who had been with Mountain Bell 38 years and was district manager for payroll and administration, died Oct. 8, 1979. Mr. Macdonald served in the Air Force in World War II and moved to Phoenix in 1957 from Denver. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers and Sigma Chi fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Mildred B.; sons, Charles and Boyce; a granddaughter and two sisters. Services were in All Saints Episcopal Church, 6300 N. Central. 10 Oct 1979.

MACKOS, William B.

Trisagion (Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox) services for William B. Mackos, 83, who moved here 32 years ago from Cleveland and was self-employed in the produce business, were in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1973 E. Maryland. Mr. Mackos was born in Greece and was a member of the Orthodox Church. He died Oct. 14, 1979, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Nick Mackos; daughters, Mary Jackson, Betty Vatsis and Evelyn Genakos; and nine grandchildren. The AZ Republic Oct. 27, 1979.

MACKOWIAK, John T.

Services for John T. Mackowiak, 48, who died Oct. 15, 1979, in St. Luke's Hospital, were in Christ Church of the Ascension. Mr. Mackowiak moved here 16 months ago from New Jersey and had been director of warehousing for Revlon, Inc., 10 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Survivors include his wife, Sheila C.; children, Karen, Nancy, James and Michael; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Mackowiak; and two sisters. A. L. Moore & Sons handled arrangements. MADISON, Buford C.

Burford C. Madison, 63, of Congress was buried Tuesday this week in Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott. He died Friday last week in Yavapai Community Hospital. Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday in the first ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Ruffner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Born in Kentucky, Mr. Madison moved to Arizona in 1937. He had been employed as a truck driver and dispatcher for Pacific Intermountain Express out of Wickenburg from 1948 until 1970. Then he was a driver for Saguaro Asphalt and Petroleum of Phoenix until 1973. Last year he was elected trustee to the school board for District 17. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 104 in Phoenix. Mr. Madison was field chairman of Wickenburg Gem and Mineral Society and assistant field chairman of Rock Knockers of Yarnell. He was involved in volunteer work for the Chat and Chew Club of Yarnell, a senior citizens' group. He also belonged to the Arizona Assn. of Retired Persons. Survivors include his widow, Jewel of Congress; three sons: Joe of Bagdad, Buford Jr. of Prescott, and Robert of Wickenburg; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. MADISON, Fletcher

Glendale -- Services for Fletcher Madison, 67, were at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary. He died Oct. 27, 1979, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergenat and came to Arizona 13 years ago from Minnesota. Surviving are his wife, Kiyoko; son, Richard; two sisters; a brother and a grandchild. MAESTAS, Ned N., Sr.

Holbrook -- Rosary and Mass for Ned N. Maestas, Sr., 80, who died Oct. 6, 1979, at Maricopa County Hospital was at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mr. Maestas, a Concho native, moved to Holbrook in 1944. He was a rancher. Survivors include eight sons, Vidal, Louis, Ned, Jr., Frankie, Leo, Ernest, Johnny and Andrew; four daughters, Maida Perguson, Gloria Kuton, Genevieve Griego and Refelita Baldwin; three brothers; two sisters; 37 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 9 Oct 1979

MAFFEO, Henry J.

22 Ocober 1883 - 8 October 1979
Henry J. Maffeo, 95, who was brought to Bisbee by his parents in 1885 and later was a founder of the first electricians union in Globe, died Oct. 8, 1979, in his home. Mr. Maffeo, 712 W. Vernon, had operated a mining specialties company in Phoenix, Maffeo & Sons. In the early days his family lived on a ranch which is now in Mexico and after his father's death they were among the first families to live in Bisbee's Brewery Gulch. Survivors include his children, Lois Weaver and John H. Maffeo; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were in St. Francis Cemetery, 4800 E. Oak. MAGDALENO, Camilo L.

Magdaleno, 77, of 6634 N. 54th Drive, who worked for John Jacob's Farms 20 years until he retired in 1968, will be 8 p.m. today in Lundberg's White Rose Chapel, 5310 W. Northern Ave. Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5614 W. Orangewood. Mr. Magdaleno, a native of Mexico who moved to Arizona in 1926 and to Glendale in 1941, died Oct. 5, 1979, in Maricopa County Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Carmen; children, Jessie Arenas, Antonia Madril, Cindy Soto and Manuel; three sisters; a brother; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. MAGNUSSON, Robert C.

Mesa -- Robert C. Magnusson, 64, who was assistant director of the Federal Housing Administration's Seattle office until he retired in 1975, died Nov. 3, 1979, in St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Magnusson was born in Mesa and lived at 550 E. 8th St. He was a bishop, district president and held other offices in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wife, Lora; children, Sherri Zinker, Faye Faucett, Bette Mae Doxey, Melvin and Robert; mother, Lettie; two sisters; a brother;; 24 grandchildren. Services at the Mesa 22nd War Chapel, 933 E. MAHONE , Nellie J.

Memorial services for Nellie J. Mahone, 70, who died Oct. 9, 1979, in Phoenix Indian Hospital, were in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Peach Springs. Mrs. Mahone was born in Arizona and is survived by her children, Mabelene, Ardith and Weldon; a sister; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Botimer Family Mortuary handled arrangements. MAHONEY, HAROLD CORNELIUS

Mr. Harold Cornelius Mahoney, of Country Club Park, Space 17, Wickenburg, Az., passed away June 12, 1979 in Phoenix, Az., at the age of 81. Mr. Mahoney, a widower, was a veteran of World War I. he was in Army Artillery and held the rank of Sergeant. Before coming to Arizona eleven years ago, Mr. Mahoney resided in Oakland, Ca., where he was Battalion Fire Chief for the Oakland Fire Department. Survivors include a brother, Val of Hayward, Ca., and a niece Mrs. Ellen Finney of Tucson, Az. Private services and cremation were held. Remains to be interred with his wife at the Fort Whipple National Cemetery, veterans section, Prescott, Az. Arrangements were handled by Universal Memorial Center, 100 E. Jefferson, Phoenix, Arizona. Sun City -- Services for Nelene A. Manthey, 79, who came here in 1966 and had been active in the Republican Party, were in Lundberg Sunland Mortuary. She was a member of United Church of Sun City, Art Club, Eastern Star and formerly was in the retail book store nad gift shop business. Her husband, Earl W., and a brother survive. Mr. Marter died Oct. 19, 1979, in a Phoenix hospital. A World War II veteran, he was a member of the Retired Officers Association and Knights of Columbus. MATHEWS, Neal

Gila Bend -- Neal Mathews, 21, who graduated from Gila Bend High School, attended Central Arizona College and worked for Gila Feedyard, died Oct. 27, 1979, in a pedestrian-train accident here. He was born in McNary and lived here. He was a member of Arizona Junior Rodeo Association and Collegiate Rodeo. Mr. Matthews, 9513 Timberline Dr., was a member of American Society of Heating & Air Conditioning Engineers and Palmbrook Country Club. A former foreman of the Diamond 2 Ranch at Walnut Grove, and widely-known among old time Wickenburg area residents, Charles Mayer, 69, died Thursday last week in the Yavapai Community Hospital in Prescott. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Newton; two sons, Richard Mayer, Yarnell, and Butch, at the ranch; a sister, and two grandchildren. McCLINTOCK, William Gail

Sun Lakes -- Memorial services for William Gail McClintock, 59, who had been manager of facility services at the Ford Motor Co. He was general superintendent of Presley Homes the past two years and a World War II Army veteran. McCORMICK, John Paul

John Paul McCormick, owner of the Aguila water company since 1957, and a resident of Wickenburg, died Sunday last week in Boswell Hospital in Sun City. He had lived in Arizona 21 years. Mr. McCormick was a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Mexico and of St. Anthony's Catholic Church here. Surviving are his widow, Pauline; a daughter, Patricia Tidwell of El Paso, Tex., and three grandsons. There was a Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday this week in St. Anthony's Catholic Church conducted by Rev. McELWAIN, Harry A.

Harry A. McElwain, 54, a tooling coordinator for AiResearch and elder in the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Phoenix, died Nov. 3, 1979, in his home at 2208 E. Sells Drive. He came to Arizona 24 years go from his native Pennsylvania. Surviving are his wife, Viola; children, Linda Tchida and David; three sisters; three brothers and two grandchildren. McENROE, Eugene A.

Mesa -- Eugene A. McEnroe, 74, who came here two and a half years ago from Manhattan, Kansas, where he had been a journalism department administrator at Kansas State University, died Oct. 26, 1979, in Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Mr. McEnroe was a member of the Mesa Elks. Survivors include his wife, Marie; children, Jeanne Vermillion, Woodland Hills, California, and John D., Independence, MIssouri; two sisters, Miss Edna McEnroe, Washington, D.C, and Mrs. Rosemary Athon, Maryville, Kansas; a brother, Jervase McEnroe, Duncan, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren. McGEE, Ralph K.

Ralph K. McGee, 81, a retired Iowa bank president, school superintendent and Methodist Church leader, died Oct. 10, 1979, in Beatitudes Campus of Care. Mr. McGee, 1630 W. Glendale, graduated from Simpson College in 1920 and earned his master's degree at the University of Colorado in 1927. He was basketball coach at Van Wert, Iowa, in 1920-22, superintendent of schools at Lenox, Iowa, until 1933 and at Leon, Iowa, until starting his banking career in 1935. He was president of the Clarke County State Bank until selling his controlling interest in 1963 and retired to Mesa in 1969. Surviving are his wife, Elsie; son, Robert W. McGee, president of Thunderbird Bank in Phoenix; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Services were in Church of the Beatitudes. Fri., Oct. 12, 1979.

Services for Roger McIntosh, 65, an Air Force retiree who had been in security seven years with Arizona National Guard, were in Mercer Mortuary Chapel in the Garden. Mr. McIntosh died Sept. 30, 1979, in Doctors Hospital. He lived here 24 years and was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church and Air Force Sergeants Association. Services for William E. McKee, 79, who moved here 45 years ago from Oklahoma and had been a school custodian, were in Glendale Chapel of the Chimes.
