YATES, Jesse R.

Jesse R. Yates, 70, a retired machinist for General Electric, died Oct. 5, 1979, in his home at 1427 E. Paseo Way. He came to Phoenix 18 years ago from Erie, PA. Surviving are his wife, Delores; children, Irene Sheldon, Shirley Cagle, Raymond and James; a sister; a brother; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were in East Resthaven Park Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave. Mon., Oct. 8, 1979.

YODER, Rev. Edward

Glendale -- The Rev. Edward Yoder, 86, a member of the Valley Christian Assembly who retired from the Postal Service in 1942 and did missionary work for the Mennonite Church until 1951, died Oct. 31, 1979, in Glendale Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Yoder 6650 W. Butler, moved here in 1967 from Kansas. He is survived by wife, Mamie; children, Willadene Shank, Mariam Adams and David D.; a sister, 10 grandchildren and 11 grandchildren. Services were Saturday in Chapel of the Chimes 7924 N. 59th Ave. The AZ Republic Nov. 2, 1979.

YUHASZ, Anna

Rosary for Anna Yuhasz, 79, was Thursday in Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas. Mass was Friday in St. Gregory Catholic Church, 3426 N. 18th Ave. Mrs. Yuhasz, 1501 E. Orangewood, lived here 27 years and died Oct. 2, 1979, in Capri Nursing Home. She is survived by two sisters and a brother. The Arizona Republic Wed., Oct. 3, 1979.

ZACK, Chester Leo

Mass for Chester Leo Zack, 60, who moved here 25 years ago from New York and died Oct. 22, 1979, in Phoenix Veterans Hospital were in Sts. Simon & Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave. Mr. Zack, 721 W. Pierson, was a World War II veteran and was a Civil Service employee from 1970 to 1973. He is survived by his wife, Lucille and son, James L. Friends may call at Whitney & Murphy Chapel, 330 N. Second Ave. The AZ Republic Oct. 24, 1979.

ZEHREN, Leonard

Mass for Leonard M. Zehren, 78, who had owned a candy and hardware store 20 years in WIsconsin, was in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8620 N. 7th St. Mr. Zehren, 1007 E. Cheryl Drive, moved here in 1967 from Appleton, WIsconsin, and died Nov. 1, 1979, in Hillhaven Health Center. His son, Robert, survives. The AZ Republic Nov. 2, 1979.

ZENT, Richard Patrick

Mesa -- Richard Patrick Zent, 42, whose pioneer grandparents came to Arizona in the early 1880s, died Oct. 6, 1979, during a visit to a brother's ranch in Rodeo, N.M. He was a consultant for a mining company in Mexico. He was brought to Phoenix as a child and attended Roosevelt Elementary, Phoenix Union and South Mountain high schools before serving three years in the Marine Corps. He worked for the AZ Republic while attending Arizona State University and in 1962 began his career with the Duval Corp in Kingman. He later worked in Nevada and the Anaconda Co. in CHile and Tucson. In recent years he was owner of the Custom-Craft Television Picture Tube Co. in Fresno, CA, where he resided. Survivors include his wife, Roberta; children, Linda White, Kathy, Richard, Jr., and Anthony; mother, Martha Zent; a grandchild and three brothers. 10 Oct 1979

LEONARD ZERBY

Retired trucker, Leonard Zerby died in Wickenburg on Sunday, July 29. Mr. Zerby, 65, was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Wickenburg 20 years ago. He was a lifetime member of the Mason Parish Lodge 292 in Amhurst, New York. Mr. Zerby is survived by three sons, one daughter, 13 grandchildren, his mother, a brother and sister and also, a niece and nephew. Services will be held Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home. The funeral will take place Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in The Wickenburg Funeral Home.
