John Joseph Macario, 93, a retired copper miner, died Dec. 24, 1982. He was born in Italy and moved to Phoenix from Calumet, Michigan, in 1942. He was a member of the Elks and American Legion in Jerome and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cottonwood. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Spreitzer; a sister and brother; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Rosary at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church. MacDAVITT, Frank B.

Frank B. MacDavitt, 79, who had been a teacher at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., for 25 years, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1982, in his home. Mass for MacDavitt, who moved to Phoenix 16 years ago from his native Brooklyn, N.Y., was in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He served in the Navy during World War II. MacDONALD, Mary Lu

Peoria -- Mary Lu MacDonald, 61, a former bookkeeper at Boswell Memorial Hospital, died Dec. 16, 1982, at Desert Terrace Nursing Home. Mrs. MacDonald was born in Duluth, MN, and moved to Scottsdale from Redwood City, CA, in 1961 and to Peoria in 1974. Survived by her daughters, Mary J. Ridgway and Judtih A. MacVEAGH, Helen E.

Helen E. Mac Veagh, 84, who moved to Phoenix 29 years ago from Ranning, California, died Nov. 16, 1982. Mrs. Mac Veagh had been a medical technologist for Good Samaritan Medican Center for 12 years. She was born in Nevadaville, Colorado, and was a member of Alpha Study Club. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Earl A. Bronson, Jr.; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Francis Joseph Madden, 46, died Sat., Oct. 2, 1982, in his home. He was brought to Arizona as a child from his native Massachusetts and was an engineer and scientist in the defense industry. He was born in New Brunswick, N.J., and moved to Arizona five years ago from New Jersey. He served with the Army in the Korean war. Scottsdale -- Roy Makil, 77, was born in Arizona and died Jan. 28, 1982, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Services were in the Salt River Indian Reservation Presbyterian Church, east of Scottsdale. MALTBY, F. Jessie

F. Jessie Maltby, 65, died Nov. 21, 2982. She was born in Narberth, Pennsylvania, and moved to Arizona in 1954. Ms. Maltby was a former Department of Economic Security employee. She attended the University of Pennsylvania and Bryn Mawr and was the medical administrator of Atlantic Refining Company of Philadelphia. MANCINI, Frank May

Frank May Mancini, 72, retired accountant with the state highway department, died Oct. 29, 1982, at Doctors Hospital. Mr. Mancini, of 3840 E. Indian School, was born in Chicago Heights, Ill., and moved to Arizona in 1946. He was a member of El Zaribah Shrine, York Rite, Scottish Rite and Thunderbird Masonic Lodge No. 48. He served as commander of the Sea Scouts in Chicago and received the Boy Scouts' Silver Beaver Award. Globe -- William A. Martin, 80, who owned and operated the Old Diminion Barber Shop for 45 years before retiring in 1967, died Dec. 19, 1982. Snowflake -- Carl L. Mash, 57, a retired operator leader with the Southwest Forest Industries papermill, died Dec. 4, 1982, at Northland Medical Center in Holbrook. Mr. Mash was a native of Durango, CO, and moved to Snowflake in 1962 from N.M. where he was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission. He was past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Montrose, CO, member of the Elks Lodge in Grand Junction, CO, and was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. McRAE, Laura M.

Tempe -- Laura Morris McRae, 84, a former Arizona state legislator and supporter of legislation to aid handicapped and underprivileged children, died Dec. 18, 1982, at her home in Tempe. Mrs. McRae was born in Safford, graduated from Snowlfake Academy and was first elected to the legislature in 1939. She introduced a bill that established the Crippled Children's Convalescent Center in Tempe and attended the first White House Conference on Children and Youth by invitation of then-President Truman. The facility for the mentally retarded, originally the Arizona Children's Colony at Coolidge, was the result of Mrs. McRae's bills. She was a nurse's aide during World War II and had served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States. Mrs. McRae is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles L. (Jean) Hardy and Mrs. George C. (Joyce) Bennion; a son, Robert; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
