FOSTER, KEEBLE, KEYSER, PORTER, SIMPSON -
I'm trying to sort out the Simpsons that settled in Bath Co. and Alleghany Co. and possibly Botetourt Co. John Simpson married Mary Porter in 1805 in Bath Co. Their children were Alexander W. b. abt. 1803 (may be a nephew), Rezin b. 1809, Preston, b. abt. 1811, Washington, b. abt 1816, Ann Eliza, b. abt 1815, Elizabeth, b. abt 1819. Alexander married Sarah H. Foster in 1831 in Alleghany Co., Rezin married Mary Jane Keyser abt 1833 prob. in Bath Co., Preston married Rachel Keeble 1833 in Alleghany Co., Washington married Martha (Patsy) A. Keyser 1838 in Alleghany Co. No record of Ann Eliza after John passed away in 1850. There was no will or probate packet. I have hit a brick wall trying to find John Simpson's parents. He was born in 1774 in Western Pennsylvania but seems to have relatives in the Bath, Alleghany, Botetourt and Greenbrier Counties. Any information you can offer would be much appreciated.

CRAFT, THOMAS -
I am searching for information on William T. CRAFT (born ca. 1821 in Boutetourt Co., VA) and his wife Mary (born ca. 1822). His son John Asher CRAFT (born ca. 1847 in Boutetourt Co. and died 9/23/1904 in Lynchburg, VA) is my wife's g-g-grandfather. Other children listed in their household on p.160 of the 1850 Boutetourt Co. census are Sarah E. (born ca. 1843), Mary A. (born ca. 1844), and Margaret (born ca. 1846). John Asher CRAFT moved to Campbell Co., VA where he married Sarah F. THOMAS on 12/26/1869. I would be happy to exchange data.

KERR, McCLELLAN, SHARP -
Would like to get in touch with others researching Sharp- McClellan families in Botetourt County. Edward Sharp married Jane McClellan, daughter of William McClellan, sometime after 1750. Sharps also owned land in Washington County. After his death in 1770 she married a man named Kerr and moved with her three Sharp children - Anthony, John and Annis - to North Carolina and to Holston River community that became Tennessee. I am particularly interested in what happened to John and Annis, and to Jane's brothers, notably William, Jr.

WOODS -
I am attempting to locate additional information on Andrew WOODS who, I am told, was Sheriff of Botetourt County, Va., under a commission granted October 18, 1777, signed by Patrick Henry, Governor of Virginia. Specifically, I know that he had a son by the name of Archibald WOODS and I would like to find out the name of his son who fathered a child named Elijah WOODS, as well as the names of any other sons he may have had. Thanks for any information!

FRANKEBERGER, FRANKENBERGER, HARSHBARGER -
Dr. Samuel Frankeberger appears in the Jordon twp, Warren Co., IN census in 1860 with his wife Rhoda Jane Smith (age 40) and their 9 children. His listed age is 46 and VA is listed as his birthplace. Other researchers claim he was from Botetourt county. Does anyone have census data for 1820 that places him there with his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth (Harshbarger) Frankeberger/ Frankenberger? I have detailed info on their descendants but can't seem to get past this stone wall. Thanks.

November 5, 1998 from BROWN, KELLY -
[email protected] (Pollyana King Brown)
James BROWN was born in Rockbridge County, VA, in 1785/86. Since Rockbridge County was formed from Botetourt County, I think it probably the family would have a presence in Botetourt (can't find them in Rockbridge!) He moved to Blount County, TN. I do not know his marriage date, place, or name of his 1st wife. James and 1st wife had the following sons (Surely they had other children besides the two boys between 1809 and 1825, but I have no data about that.): Edward, BlountCo, TN, 1809; James G., BlountCo, TN, 1815. James BROWN's 2nd marriage was by 1825 to Anna KELLY (birthplace suspected to be TN, but otherwise unknown). James died at Sand Mountain, DeKalbCo, AL in 1876 and Anna KELLY died there 2 years later in 1878. Anna KELLY and James BROWN had the following children born in the indicated places: Stephen Woodruff, McMinnCo, TN 1825; daughter, McMinnCo, TN 1828; Michael S., McMinnCo, TN 1833; William Erby, ObionCo, TN 1835*; daughter, b. somewhere 1837; Olive Ann, MurrayCo, GA 1839; Keziah H., MurrayCo, GA 1842; Sarah, DeKalbCo, AL 1845; and Serena D., DeKalbCo, AL 1850.
*This makes little sense to me, since it is out of the way from their "normal" area of residence, but was given to me by Michael's direct descendant.
I need help with parents of James BROWN and name of his 1st wife.
