DYER, PATTON, ROGERS -
I am seeking confirmation (in the form of written documents) that Matthew Patton (born 1730 in
Ireland, d 1803 in Winchester, KY) is the father of Robert Patton, Sr.(born 1748? d 1813 in Lincoln,
TN). Matthew Patton is the son of Capt. John Patton (John is the brother of Col. James
Patton, who brought many settlers to Augusta Co., VA, and the surrounding area) and Mary Sarah
Rogers. Matthew apparently traveled to America from Ireland with his father. Matthew married Hester
(Ester) Dyer, the daughter of Roger Dyer and Hannah ____, in 1749 in Franklin, Pendleton
Co. (?). Matthew and Hester had 9-11 children and may have lived in 3 different states (VA., NC and KY).
Matthew's and Hester's children included William, David, Robert, John, Roger, John, Matthew, Benjamin (?),
Sarah (Sally?), Mary Ann, James and Hester. I would appreciate any information or lead which can help me
establish that Matthew is (or is not) Robert's father.

William Sayers to the Head of Holstans River for the year 1771. I will be happy to share my Ga line if

AIKINS, AKENS, AKINS -
I find Thomas AKENS on the lis of Tithables taken by John Bowman in Botetourt Co Va in 1771. I am a
descendant of the Akens of Jasper co Ga. My ggg-grandfather was Daniel Akens who married in
Randolph Co Ga, now Jasper Co Ga in 1809. There was also at the same time a Thomas Akins as well as
a John and James. I find the spelling Akens/ Akins/ Aikins all pertaining to the same
people. I think this is where they must have been before coming to Ga in the late 1700s. I cannot pinpoint
Daniel's father but I also found a Daniel Akens in Va in 1771 but I do not think it could be my
Daniel. Maybe his father. Any help on this would be appreciated.
