NICKLES ROBERTSON, WOODS -
Am researching the family of James Henry WOODS who lived in Botetourt Co., VA: married Ann Rose Nickles, settled in Bedford County, VA. They had daughter, Laura Jane WOODS, who married (2 May 1886) (died 14 Oct 1906) John Tazewell ROBERTSON (born 10 Feb 1847) (died 12 May 1926) of Franklin Co., VA. They were married in Bedford Co., lived in Franklin Co. VA for awhile and both died in Roanoke, VA. Census records these facts but lists James Woods only. I am trying to prove who the parents of James Henry Woods were and more about my great grand father James Henry Woods. Will be glad to exchange family information. Jane of Parkville.

GRIFFITH, LEWIS -
I am researching the family of my gggg grandfather Wilson Basil Lewis. I found a pedigree chart indicating that he was born in Greenbriar Co Va. One chart indicated he was born about 1764 and another indicated 1748. It stated he married Rachel Griffith in Botetourt Co., Va., in January 1774. They had 7 children; (1) Hannah, (2) Abner, (3) John J., (4) Leannah (5) Mary, (6) Elizabeth, and (7) Rebecca. Wilson and Rachel moved to Knox Co., Ky where Wilson Died in 1808. John J. was my ggg grandfather and the same pedgree chart said he was born in Greenbriar Co., Va., in December of 1790. There is a John Griffith listed in the 1794 Botetourt Personal Property Tax List. I would appreciate very much any information on this family. Thank You

BRYANT, JOHNSON, LEONARD -
I am looking for information on Andrew Jackson "Andy" Bryant who married Matilda Leonard and lived for a time in Botetourt Co. His father was Amos Bryant and I think Matilda's mother's surname was Johnson; but not sure. According to a 1902-1903 voter registration record of Carroll County, Andy Bryant (age 22) was listed as living in the state for only 15 years. That would make him appox. 7 when he moved to Va. If you can help please email.

CRINER, POOLE, SCOTT, WHEELER -
I am looking for several ancestors who have been hiding very well.
Generation 1 : Joseph Scott born about 1765 was married and living in Frederick Co, Md in 1800 but had moved to Giles Co, Va by 1810 census time. He is listed in Giles county tax list in 1815 and in poor court in 1821 but I can't find anyother traces of him. Joseph had land in Botetourt County at Clover Bottom of Sinking Creek waters of John's Creek of the New River. This area became part of Giles Co. His children are: Joseph Scott, Jr. born about before 1790 probably in Md and who is listed is Giles co in 1815 tax list and 1820 census. Then he disappears. George Scott born before 1795 probably in Md who married Cynthia Poole in Giles Co in 1816 and owned land in Clover Hollow area /Sinking Creek His family is in Giles Co records until 1840 census. Then he disappears. Henry Scott (my ancestor) born probably in Md before 1790 who married Elizabeth Evaline Criner in Giles Co in 1816. Also, owned land on Sinking Creek - he ran a mill in Clover Hollow. He appears in the 1820 census only but was in Giles Co as shown in other records until at least 1858. Then he disappears. An unknown female daughter of Joseph Scott born probably in Md by 1790. She is listed in the 1810 Giles Co census but this is all I know about her.
In Generation4 my greatgrandfather (grandson of Henry ) was James A Scott He was probably born after 1857 in Giles Co and was listed as 60 in the 1920 census. Family info says he probably died about 1930 at home in Clover Hollow. He married sometime before 1878 somewhere to Ollie Francis Wheeler who may have been the daughter of James Wheeler. She was 20 in 1880 and died in Giles Co after 1931. Her age changes so much in the census records that I can't accurately estimate birth year.
I have NO birth or death dates on any of these folks and would love to hear from ANYONE who has ANY ideas. I have both of the Giles Co history books - its not there. HELP!!!!!!!!!

SHOEMAKER, STONE -
I am searching for information on John STONE and Eliza SHOEMAKER who married and were listed on Botetourt's 1850 Census. Our family was told that he arrived in Virginia around 1839 and we want to find out which ship he came over on and possibly who he came with. I would also be interested to see if they are listed on the 1860 and 1870 census records. By 1880 he had settled in Clay County, WV where they lived, raised their family and died. I would like to find Eliza's parents. There is a SHOEMAKER couple listed in the 1850 census next to John and Eliza STONE. Considering the ages involved, I am guessing that the SHOEMAKER husband was Eliza's brother. Thanks in advance for any help given. I work with the historical society in Clay County, WV if I can be of help to any of you, please feel free to ask.

BRACKENRIDGE, BRECKENRIDGE, BRECKINRIDGE, MAHAN, MORROW -
Searching for ANY information about Patrick MAHAN and his family. He signed the surety for the marriage of his daughter, Margaret MAHAN, to James MORROW in Botetourt March 8, 1779. Shortly thereafter, his family, including James MORROW, moved to Kentucky. The family was taken prisoner during the raids on Martin's Station and Ruddle's Station in 1780. The Indians and the British under command of Bird held the prisoners at Detroit for a time before taking them to Montreal. Patrick Mahan died in Detroit. Eventually their release was negotiated and the family made their way back to Kentucky. Other helpful information about the family: -Children: Margaret, Isabella, Jane, Thomas, John, William, Agnes? -Jane later married James BRECKINRIDGE/ BRACKENRIDGE -William kept a journal of their experiences which probably passed to his brother, Thomas, after his death at the age of 18 (don't have year) -Thomas married and had a family but appears to have died by 1841. The papers of Lyman Draper, who interviewed many of the survivors, indicate that Thomas' widow and children were living in Missouri in 1841. -There is a woman named Agnes mentioned in several accounts and there is conflicting information as to whether she is a daughter of Patrick MAHAN or a daughter-in-law. There is some suggestion that she is the Mrs. WILSON who was interviewed years later by Rev. Shane, whose accounts were published. Rev. Shane also interviewed Jane MAHAN BRECKENRIDGE, who suggested that Agnes was her sister-in-law. Patrick may have spent time in Lancaster County, VA and was listed as a native of Pennsylvania. Any information about this family, and especially the fates of James MORROW and Margaret MAHAN MORROW would be appreciated.
