BRUNK, CRAWFORD,
GRAY, LYON, SHANK -
I am looking for a Crawford link, and Botetourt County seems
the likely place. A Nimrod Crawford married a Miss
Gray there about 1794. This is not the Nimrod I am seeking.
I need help with Nimrod T. Crawford. Born, circa 1802, in
Virginia. Died, between 1860 and 1880 possibly in Summers Co., W.V.
Nimrod is found in Montgomery Co., Va. for the 1840 and 1850 census
and Raleigh Co., (West) Virginia for the 1860 census. I am unable
to find him on the 1870 census. I believe he came from elsewhere
and married Catherine who did live in Montgomery. He married
Catherine Brunk, daughter of Jacob Brunk and Nancy
Ann Shank, 8 Mar 1831, in Montgomery Co., Virginia, Born,
circa 1806, in Virginia. In 1880 Catherine is head of household in
Summers Co., W.V. with two unmarried children living with her:
Magdaline and Mary A. Catherine is listed as a widow. I am unable
to find her on a census in 1870. Children: Jacob Born, circa 1831,
Elizabeth Born, Anne , Born, circa 1835, Susan Crawford.
Born, circa 1837, Magdalin Born, circa 1840, Hannah, Catherine
Born, circa 1844, Marcellus Born, circa 1846, James Born, circa
1848, in Mary A. Crawford. Born, circa 1850,--- M.
Crawford. Born, circa 1853, in Their daughter Hannah was
Born, 16 Apr 1842, in Virginia Died, 14 Feb 1936, in Summers Co.,
WV Hannah is head of household in 1880 in Summers Co., WV.
Apparently her husband his died. She and both of her parents are
listed on the 1880 census as born in Virginia. The death register
lists her father as Nimrod Crawford. She married ?Perry? or
T.? Lyon. A daughter, Emily E.E. Lyon. Born, circa
1866, in Raleigh Co., West Virginia married Joseph (James) A.
Crawford, son of John A.N. Crawford and Anna A.
(Crawford), 18 Jun 1885, in Summers Co., West Virginia

SHEFF -
Does anyone know if the Botetourt Co. area had local directories or
local Census prior to 1850? I am looking for my GGGrandfather as
a youth. (Joseph SHEFF) He was born in 1835 (approx). He
would not be listed as head of house prior to 1850. If anyone has
a suggestion on what I should do next, I would greatly appreciate
it. Thank you.

CROUCH, FOWLER, PARKER, WOOD -
Mary Crouch, daughter of William and Mildred (Wood)
Crouch, married John J.M. Parker in Bedford County on
August 11, 1856. John was the son of James and Melvina
(Fowler) Parker. 1860 Botetourt Census shows John
and Mary living there. 1870, John was in Calhoun County, West
Virginia and believe the Mary Parker who showed up in the
Botetourt County Poor House, was Mary Crouch
Parker. Did she and John have any children.? When and
where did Mary die? Thanks.
