Robert Cuming of Allathan (4581); his wife, Elizabeth Irvine (4848); and, children, Margaret (4852) and Jane (4853) were found on the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696, at Allathan, in Auchredy Parish. The entry reads as follows:
"List of pollable persons in the Lands of Allathan, Robert Cuming of Allathin, his valuation £133, 6s., 8d.
"Inde, his poll is ... £4, 6s., od.
"Elizabeth Irving, his spouse, and Margrat and Jane Irvings (sic), his daughters ... 18s., 0d.
"The hundreth pairt of Robert Cumming of Allathin, his valuatione, with the other side 2 merks, inde ... £1, 6s., 8d.
The one halfe whereof is in the Masters oun hand, the other devided as follows:--" It then listed the tennents and their part of the total.2
Alexander Cheyne and Robert Cuming were named Godfathers at the Christening of Isobel Will, 29 July 1701, at Allathan, in New Deer Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of New Deer, 1684-1726, Page 110, "Julie 29 1701 The Sd day George Will (4582) in Allathan had a daughter brought forth Chrift'n Watfon (4583) & was baptized the 1st of June 1701 named Ifsbel (4584), her Godfathers Robert Cuming (4581) of Allathan & Allex'r Chyne (756) at the miln of Corbfhill, her Godmothers Elizabeth Irvine of adie Allathan (4852) & Ifsabel horn in Whyfhill”..3

The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of New Deer, 1684-1726, Page 116, "May 25; (1702) The sd day George Will (4582) in Allathan had a daughter brought forth by his wife was baptized the 2 of May & named Margrat (4585), Godfathers Robert Cuming (4581) of Allathan, Alex'r Chyne(756) in Corbfhil, Godmothers Margrat Cuming (4852) in Allathan & Margrat Watfon in Corbfhill”..4

The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of New Deer, 1684-1726, Page 122, "May 31 Munday 1703, Alex'r Chyne (756) in Miln of Corbshill had a Son brought forth by his wife Jean Urquhart (760) & was baptized the 5 of June and named Robert (768). Godfathers Robert Cumin (4581) of Allathan, Robert Barnet (4589) in Slacks”..5
