George Cheyne, James Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne were found on a passenger list with their parents James Cheyne and Mary Cheyne, 14 August 1894 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England. They were passengers aboard the Mongolian out of New York. He was 31 and a printer and she was 30. Their children George, 7, James, 4 and Alexander, 1. All were marked as Scotch.3

George Cheyne, James Cheyne, Alexander Strachan Cheyne, Mary Strachan Cheyne and Elizabeth G. Strachan Cheyne were listed as children in the household of James Cheyne and his wife, Mary Strachan on the 1901 Scotland Census, at 35 Clarence Street, in Aberdeen, Saint Clements Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as 13 years of age, born in the USA and a scholar.1

George William Cheyne married Bessie Erridge 10 September 1909.4

George W. Cheyne died 8 June 1918 during World War I. His nationality was British and was a Greaser in the Mercantile Marine aboard the S.S. Hogarth registered in Aberdeen which was sunk by German Submarine #107, off the Norfolk coast. He was 33 years of age and the son of James Cheyne and the late Mary Cheyne; husband of Bessie Cheyne (nee Erridge), of 18, Rosebank Place, Aberdeen. He was born in Michigan, U.S.A.5,6

George W. Cheyne was memorialized at the Tower Hill Memorial, in London, England.5
