Andrew "Andy" Adams GATE CITY — Andrew "Andy" Adams, 22, went to his heavenly home on May 25, 2009, with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis. He was born Oct. 5, 1986. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Berry; maternal grandfather, G. H. Berry and uncle, Ralph Berry. Survivors are his loving mother and stepfather, Della Adams and Doyle Calton, Sr., Gate City; two stepbrothers, Ronald Calton, Weber City and Doyle Calton, Jr., Gate City, Va.; sister, Frances Chapman, Nickelsville, Va.; several aunts and uncles, Rose and Ronnie Tipton, Gate City, Bonnie and Robert Gibson, Dungannon, Va., Dollie and Claude Gilliam, Blackwater, Va., Mae Taylor, Duffield, Va., and Bessie Berry, Duffield, Va., Shirley Doss, Oklahoma, Charles Berry, Tennessee, and Johnny Berry, Duffield, Va.; several nieces, nephews and special friends, Holly, Michael and Brandon Egan of Hunters Valley. Kingsport Times-News Bryan Keith Adams GREENEVILLE - Bryan Keith Adams, of Greeneville, a local wildlife artist and quadriplegic, died Sunday (Aug. 6, 2006) at his home after a brief struggle with cancer. He was 48. He was a longtime resident of Kingsport and a sometime resident of Wimberley Tex., his "second favorite state." He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Bowlin; his step-grandmother, Thelma Faye Lazenby; his maternal grandfather, Coy Lazenby, with whom he shared an especially close relationship; his paternal grandmother, Iva Bowlin Adams, who doted on him and whom he held most dear; his paternal grandfather, Rome Adams. He is survived by his three-year-old son, Noah Benjamin Adams, the greatest of many blessings in his life; his wife, Amy Adams, who is lost without him; his brother and faithful companion, Jeff Adams and his cherished parents, Marvin and Janice Adams of Kingsport, who will miss him terribly. Bryan is also survived by a large extended family with whom he has always been close, including his dear aunt, Clara Lee Gragg and her children, Mrs. Kay Taylor, Bud, Mike and Joe Gragg, all of Kingsport; his maternal aunts, Mrs. Peggy Hulse, Mrs. Clara Lee Wright, Mrs. Rose Zella Wright, Mrs. Delilah Beckum, Mrs. Donna Pack, Mrs. Shirley Bell; his paternal aunts and uncles, Mrs. Sherril (Eastelee) Vaughn, Mrs. Shermalean Johnson, Willard Adams, Jerry Adams, Paul Adams and their families. Bryan's great-aunt, Clara Barton of Baileyton was also an especially dear person in his life. Bryan also leaves behind countless friends and loved ones who will never forget his presence in their lives. Adams, 85, of 1403 Old Union Road, went home to be with the Lord on
Wednesday ( Mrs. Adams was a lifelong
resident of Church Hill and was a member of She was preceded in death by

Elsie Vivian (Parsons) Adams DUFFIELD, Va. — Elsie Vivian Adams, 76, entered into rest Monday (April 13, 2009) at Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Lee County, Va. to the late Charles Leonard Parsons and Ella Adaline Campbell Parsons. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Adams; son, William George Adams; and infant son, Otto, Jr.; and one brother, Wayne Parsons. A native of Scott County, Va., she was a daughter of the late W.F. and Ollie Piercy Christian. Mrs. Adams retired from Kernet and attended Crosswell Apostolic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Adams; two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her son, Tony W. Adams, of Easley; a daughter, Bobbie J. HILL - James C. (J.C.) Adams, 81, of 1403 Old Union Road, passed away
Saturday (Nov. 24, 2001) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center
following an extended illness. Mr.
Adams was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County, and was a member of Faith
Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer. He
was preceded in death by his parents, William Connor and Cora Overbey
Adams. Surviving
are his wife, Delmar Kate Alley Adams, Church Hill; two daughters, Barbara
Hagood and Joyce Adams, both of Church Hill; one son, James E. Adams.

Jeffrey Scott Adams Jeffrey Scott Adams, 50, of
Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 10 p.m. A native of Kingsport, he has
lived here all of his life. He attended Sullivan West High School. Jeff
worked at Warrior's Path State Park as a greenskeeper. Due to a kidney and
pancreas transplant, his health would not let him do what he wanted but he
enjoyed his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Janice Adams; brother, Brian Keith Adams; paternal grandparents,
Rome Dell Adams & Iva Ann Adams; maternal grandparents, Coy Eager
Lazenby & Thelma Faye Lazenby. He is survived by his father,
Marvin Adams & wife Leann; sister-in-law Amy Lynn Adams; nephew, Noah
Benjamin Adams; niece, Ella; and several aunts & uncles. The family will receive friends
on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Pastor J. W. Depew

HILL - M. Joyce Adams, 55, passed away Saturday (December 11, 2004) at
Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following a brief
illness. Joyce was a life
long resident of Hawkins County and was of the Baptist Faith.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. and Delmar Alley Adams.
She
is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Niki and Mark Gent, Church
Hill; one grandson, Ryan Gent; her beloved dog, Bitsy; one brother, James
E. Adams, Church Hill; one sister, Barbara Hagood, Church Hill; several
nieces and nephews. Calling

City, VA - Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Martin Adams, 95, Gate City, VA passed
away, Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Holston Manor, Kingsport, TN. Margaret
was born in Pembroke, VA on October 7, 1918 and became a resident to the
area after her marriage. She was employed and retired from Eastman Kodak
Company in Kingsport. She
was preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth Adams; son, James Tee
Adams; six brothers and five sisters. She
is survived by her daughter, Margaret Christine Lane and husband, Rev.
James Paul Lane; son, Walter Ronald Adams and wife Peggy; daughter-in-law
Mamie Adams; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 9
great-great-grandchildren. The
family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at
the Gate City Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be
conducted at 1:00 p.m, in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral
home with the Rev. Johnny Hackney and Rev. Paul Lane officiating. Kayla

Mary Alice (Snodgrass) Adams Gate
City, VA – Mary Alice Adams, 91, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at
Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home (Duffield, VA). Mrs.
Adams was born January 4, 1922, in Scott County, Virginia. She was the
daughter of the late John B. Snodgrass and Ava Margaret Starnes Snodgrass. Mrs.
Adams was a member of Three Bells United Methodist Church (Duffield, VA). In
addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George
C. Adams; a sister, Broadus Ellis; and 3 brothers, Eugene Snodgrass,
Buford Snodgrass, and Stewart Snodgrass. Survivors
of Mary Alice Adams include 2 daughters, Beth Blair and husband Roger
(Gate City, VA), and Daris McConnell and husband Jim (Bristol, TN); 7
grandchildren, Stan McConnell and wife Debbie, Clint McConnell, Jim
McConnell Jr. and wife Kristin, Leanna Milton and husband Reece, Gwen Lane

"Bill" Adams, 78, 2232 Netherland Inn Road, Kingsport, died early Thursday morning (Nov. 21,1991) at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Scott County, Va., he moved to Kingsport at an early age. He was employed as a Sullivan County Deputy and was a retired employee with the City of Kingsport Fire Department after 35 years' of service. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 having served as chaplain. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Adams and his mother, Lilla Mae Matney Adams. (Little Buck) Absher, 76, passed away Thursday (July 19, 2001) after a long illness at his residence. He was born in Appalachia, Va., and had been a resident of Gate City, Va. most of his life. Mr. Absher was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed baseball, wrestling, fishing and gardening. He was a special husband, dad and pappaw. Mr. Absher retired from Eastman Chemical Co. after 40 years of service. Kingsport Times-News William Melvin “Mel” Adams December 5, 1925 - July 22, 2015 William Melvin Adams, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, surrounded by his daughters and caregivers. The son of Gladys and Curtis Adams, Mel was born and raised in Scott County, Virginia. He attended the University of Tennessee and Knoxville Business College, and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Yeoman on the troop carrier, USS Lurline, sailing the Pacific 14 times during WWII. Sent by a Knoxville accounting firm to Whitesburg, Kentucky in 1948, he met his soon-to-be wife Jean Addington. 16 years later, after entering the coal mining machinery business, he moved his wife and 3 children to Huntington. He was the President of Elmac Corporation, a successful mining machinery company, until his early retirement in 1974. They moved to Florida in 1976, where he resided until a few years after Jean passed away. Mel is survived by sisters Inez Collins (Hicks) of Kingsport, TN, Serena Stewart of Mt. Carmel, TN and a brother Raymond Adams (Estle) of Knoxville, TN. Additional survivors include son Gary Adams (Alicia) of Huntington, and daughters Kim Wilson (C. October 10th [2013] at Indian Path Hospital as a result of complications
from illness. He passed peacefully and expressed gratitude and love of
those that had shared his life and that he was ready for the Lord to take
him home. Chuck
was born in Scott County, VA and lived in Memphis, TN and Phoenix, AZ most
of his life, but had returned to Kingsport, TN three years ago. He
enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served our country for two terms
(eight years). He then joined the Army Corp of Engineers and retired to
Phoenix, AZ after 31 years of service; where he received several
decorations and commendations. He
is preceded in death by; his parents, Henry Farley (H.F.) Addington Jr.
and Idah Larkey Lawson; his wife, Mary Thomas Addington of Phoenix; his

Fred Ezra Addington NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Mr. Fred E. Addington, 73, entered into eternal rest Sunday morning (Sept. 1, 2002) at his residence after a long battle with cancer. The son of the late Everett and Norma Addington, he was born January 22, 1929 in Scott County, Va., and moved to Kingsport in the early 1950's, coming back to the farm he loved in 1980. He was a member of Addington Frame Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of Nickelsville Fidelity Lodge #173, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #188, Scott County Shrine Club, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and the Jericho Shrine. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He retired from Mead Corp. after 41 years of service. In addition to his parents, his first wife, June Gillenwater Addington in 1959; one brother, Glenn E. Addington; and infant granddaughter, Rachel Addington preceded him in death. Jim was born in Nickelsville, Virginia, on October 29, 1934, the son of the late Lawton and the late Bonnie (Kilgore) Addington. On November 11, 1961, he married Barbara West, who survives. oldest member of Copper Creek Primitive Baptist Church (Addington Frame)

Janelle (Donelson) Addington June 30, 1931 - April 10, 2014 Nickelsville,
VA - Janelle Donelson Addington passed away following a life of service
devoted to her family, church and community. Born on June 30, 1931 in
Scott County and passed on April 10, 2014 at her home. Janelle was the
eighth child born to William J. and Ollie E. Donelson which preceded her
in death. In
addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her siblings,
Viola Maude Donelson, Clarice Donelson, Earl Donelson, Ada Ruth Donelson,
Irene and husband Clyde Castle, Fred Donelson, and William Donelson Jr.;
daughter-in-law Nina Addington. Janelle
grew up on a farm and loved to tell stories about her childhood including
walking miles to school, working in tobacco and corn fields. Janelle
graduated from Dungannon High School. Shortly thereafter she went to work
as a telephone operator at Inter-Mountain Telephone Co. She married Bruce
Addington June 9, 1950 and celebrated their 63rd anniversary June 9, 2013.
To this marriage were born four children: Danny, Vivian, Douglas (deceased
1987), and Timothy. Janelle was devoted to her family and grandchildren.
She enjoyed helping and caring for her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Janelle
was always ready and willing to help with the sick, especially her older
relatives. She loved the outdoors working with her many flowers,
gardening, farming and fishing. Additionally, she loved to cook for her
family, pastors, their families and her many friends. She was a devoted
and loving wife, a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a
friend to all. Janelle was a previous member of Culbertson Chapel United
Methodist Church and would relay her childhood days and profession of
faith. At the time of her death she had been a member of Copper Creek
Primitive Baptist Church (Addington Frame) for many years and attended as
long as she was physically able. She is
survived by her husband of 63 years Preston Bruce and children Danny,
Vivian and husband James Hall, Timothy and wife Susan; grandchildren,
Justin Addington and wife Charity, Daniel Addington, Joseph Addington,
Michael Addington and wife Nicole, Zachary Addington, Christopher

Trevor Alan Addington March 07, 1986 - April 18, 2015 Trevor Alan Addington, 29, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (April 18, 2015) at his residence with his mother by his side. Despite being born with medical difficulties, Trevor was very brave during his journey through life. His mother stood by his side caring for him through every medical battle he faced. He was loved very much by his family. Trevor was a 2004 graduate of Twin Springs High School. He enjoyed playing Xbox, playing with his son Lundy and nephew Noah, and traveling to Ohio to spend time with family. Trevor will be remembered for his heart of gold and his great sense of humor. Despite his medical history, the Lord blessed Trevor with his son, Lundy. Trevor was most proud of Lundy, filling Trevor’s heart with joy and happiness. E. Addington, 45, Kingsport realtor, civic and church leader, died
unexpectedly at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday [3/14/1951] at the office of Baker
Realty Company which he headed. Office
employes said he came to work as usual but complained of a slight
"heartburn." Shortly afterwards he collapsed. The Kingsport
Lifesaving Crew was summoned but was unable to revive him. Mr.
Addington, who lived at 1330 Bristol Highway, was born in neighboring
Scott County, Va., and had spent most of his life in Kingsport. He was
vice-president of the Optimists Club and a trustee and member of the Board
of Stewards of Ketron Memorial Methodist Church in Lynn Garden. He was an
active member of the Kingsport Real Estate Board. Surviving
are his widow, Mrs. Ruby Hammond Addington; three daughters, Mrs. Virgil
C. Meyers, Mrs. Wallace Alley and Miss Martine Addington, and one son, Leo
Addington, all of Kingsport; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Addington,

Mrs. Adinolfi will be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and mother-in-law who loved the Lord and His creations. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Salvatore V. "Sal" Adinolfi Sr., in 1999; one son, Salvatore V. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Antonio and Palma Caliendo Adinolfi. He lived in York, Pa., where he was a former officer of the Auxillary Police and also served with the Capitol Police in Harrisburg, Pa.
