Laurie Langhans, Tue Apr 7, 1998, 15:43:38
I am posting this query in reference to the old DEVOLL/DEVOLLD Cemetary in Noble Co. Many of Noble Co's first families are buried there, including DEVOLL/DEVOLLD,SPEAR,LANAM,ACKLEY,LINCICOME,MATHENY,HARPER,EVERLY,WICKHAM ,AND BALIS. I don't know if any of you other descendants of these families have visited there, but the cemetary is in a very bad state. The grass and weeds are out of control, covering many of the markers, and many of the grave markers are illegible, due to the age of the stone. I am hoping to find some other descendants who would be willing to help in cleaning up the cemetary over a weekend during the summer. Please email if interested. Thanks!

I am searching for information on Morris MORRISON. He was shown on the 1860 Noble Co. census as the husband of Martha__. This is probably a second marriage as no wife is shown in his listing in the 1850 Washington Co census. His birthplace is shown as Va. and he had probably been in Ohio since at least 1844 as a son, age 16 is shown in 1850. Any information on Morris' parents or siblings would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for family roots for the Boone family in this area, I know that my grandparents were buried in a church grave yard in a small area called Crooked Tree, there is only one church in this area that I am familiar with, it has a small grave yard behind it, do you know that name of it or live by it? I live in Ohio still but am unable to get there to do any research, I am looking for someone in that area that could assist me. I may still have family there, a great-aunt with the last name of Chandler. Please e mail me at [email protected] with any information. thanks

Mona Hussey Mason, Mon Apr 20, 1998, 08:10:44
Mona L. (Hussey) Mason HUSSEY, David abt 1765 Dover, NH married to Mercy ? both are buried 1844 in Dudley Cemetery. I've been doing my own line of Asa HUSSEY with children: Samuel, Simon, Charles, Susan, Sally, William H.H. and David. Possible David HUSSEY is the Father of Asa . Sarah Jane HUSSEY that married Robert KEITH. Seems that Sarah Jane may also be a daughter of David and Mercy and sister to Asa. Susan HUSSEY married Joseph KEITH, brother of Robert. I feel that most of the HUSSEYs in Wash., Morgan and Noble Co's are related. Any information or help would be most appreciated and will share all gathered information.

An update on an earlier query regarding Mary Jane CUNNINGHAM. Have received her death certificate from Oregon Archives, which lists her birthdate as 3 Sep 1838 in Noble County, Ohio. Now realizing that Noble Co. was not formed until 1851, I don't know which original county was her birthplace. Her death date was 25 Apr 1912, Grants Pass, Josephine County, Oregon. Her first husband was Henry SMITH/SMYTH m. 13 Feb 1860, Noble Co. OH. Henry died in Civil War. Husband (2) was Russell Parker. Mary Jane, Russell, Mary Jane's daughter, Addie SMYTH, and other relatives migrated to Oregon in late 1860's. Mary Jane's death cert. gave her parents as follows: father_____CUNNINGHAM, b. Maine, mother____DAVIS, b. Maine. With these new clues, can anyone help me find Mary Jane's family? I would also love to find information on Henry SMYTH. Thanks very much.

Lucy A.Wolfe, Tue Apr 28, 1998, 18:34:09
I am searching for any information on the parentage of Homer GIBSON who ran the Noble County Children's home near Mt. Ephraim. I am unsure at this time of how he fits into my family tree. His death certificate lists Sarah Barber as his mother and just the last name of Gibson is listed as his father's name. The Sarah Barber on the death certificate is my G-G Grandfather's sister, Sarah Gibson, only the certificate lists her married name of Barber. It seems like a cover up to me. So who was his father? Any help would be appreciated in helping place Homer in my family tree.
