GETTS

My grandfather and grandmother were Lithuanian immigrates that lived in Belle Valley, OH. There they gave birth to many children including my father, Felix Getts. One of my dad's favorite stories is how, when they were children going to school in Belle Valley, they would stick their feet in cow pies to keep their feet warm. Then they would walk their way to school. Then when they reached school, there was a basin to wash their feet. My father was born in 1920 to, from what I can determine, John and Johanna Getts. I would like you to provide any information about my father and his family during their time there. From what I have ascertained, they ran a boarding house. The reason I am making this request is that the last living member of this group,
Angnes Getts, has died and I am searching for sources of information.

LAWRENCE, STAMP

I am trying to find the siblings and parents of my gg grandmother Margaret STAMP, b. around 1836 in Maryland, married October 16, 1860, in Noble County, Ohio, to Robert J. LAWRENCE. They had one son, William
Winfiield Lawrence. Margaret is buried beside the Methodist Church in Summerfield Cemetery, Noble County, Ohio (Summerfield was in Monroe County until 1850). Her tombstone is inscribed: Margaret LAWRENCE, wife
of R.J. died 10-9-1864, aged 28 years. William Winfield LAWRENCE is said to have inherited from her land located in Ritchie County, West Virginia.

From what I can tell, the Stamps in Maryland are all descended from one of the sons of John Thomas STAMPE, the immigrant, who was born in England c. 1603. He is said to have had seven sons, and most stayed with him in
Virginia. Several members of the family seemed to have migrated from Prince Georges County, Maryland, to Belmont, Monroe and Noble Counties in Ohio c.1830-1840. What church did they belong to in Maryland and in Ohio? Do
any of the families have a daughter the right age who could be Margaret?

I have not found any record of a marriage for Hider Neville, so I am curious to find an obituary or hear from descendants. Here is his bio..

DR. MICHAEL H. NEVILLE, one of the old medical practitioners of Noble County, is a native of Virginia. Born in that state in 1812, at the age of nineteen he began his business life as a clerk in a store. After about three years he engaged in buying and selling live stock. In 1838 he married Miss Harriet Black. Their children are Mary C. (Morris), Kansas; Malvina J., deceased; and Mary E. (Uhlrich). He read medicine under Dr. William H. Dew, of Randolph County, Va., and began its practice in 1845. In 1855 he came to Ohio, locating near Sarahsville, whence he removed to Mount Ephraim, his present home, in 1862. He has since been actively engaged in the practice of his profession. He has served as coroner and justice of the peace. [from History of Noble County, Ohio Published by L.H. HENDERSON

What I know: Thomas Anderson HENDERSON and family are listed in the Olive Twnshp, Noble Co. 1880 census. He is lised as a carpenter. He was born 1843. Also listed are wife Maria M. 35, dau Sarah L. 13, son Ellis 9, son Josiah 6 and son Carl 4/12. The family moved from Belmont Co. and are listed in that 1870 census with Dad as a farmer. I have much info on son's Carl (my grandfather) and Ellis and we know that wife Maria is buried in Crapapple Cem, Uniontown , Belmont Co. Son Ellis, in an obituary, had joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in Caldwell at age 19 (approx 1888).

Info sought: Really anything else, but we think that mother, daughter Sarah and son Josiah had died of scarlet fever. Mother Maria died Dec 10, 1887. We do not know where Sarah and Josiah are buried, although I have some evidence that Sarah may have survived the fever and married in Belmont County and died around age 30, but this is not clear.

The surviving son Carl went to live with an Aunt in Flushing, and father Thomas and son Ellis went to Zanesville sometime around 1900. Dad and Ellis died by Feb 1906 and my grandfather Carl was left as the sole survivor.

I guess that it would be good to know, if available: Where they lived. Did the whole family belong to the church in Caldwell and are there records. Is anyone buried in Nobel County?? Is there a record of a Scarlet fever epidemic?? Anything else???
