STUMP, WILSON posted by Greg Wilson on Thursday, May 13, 1999

Looking for the parents of John W. WILSON (1828-1904), who married Jemima Catherine STUMP (1835-1904) in Berkeley County WV in 1850. Father's name was probably George W. WILSON, probably born around 1800. I found a George WILSON born in Somerset County in 1680, and am hoping it might be an ancestor of my John W.

DOUGLAS posted by Patricia Douglas Vance on Friday, June 4, 1999

Thomas DOUGLAS was born 1779/80 in Virginia according to the 1830 Census of Rutherford County, TN. He married Edith THOMPSON February 29, 1804 in Johnston, North Carolina. (IGI) She was born 1779 in North Carolina. The IGI says a Thomas DOUGLAS was born 1779 to Levi DOUGLAS and Nancy Anne Merrick in Harrison, VA. Thomas DOUGLAS and Edith THOMPSON had a son named Bryant DOUGLAS, b. abt. 1811, Tennessee; m. Mary Starnes, 1834, Tennessee; b. abt. 1812, Tennessee. Bryant was my gr gr grandfather. Levi DOUGLAS was the child of William DOUGLAS b 1720 in Cecil Co. MD. He married Mary Anderson in Somerset County about 1780. They had another son, Samuel DOUGLAS b Sep 22, 1759 in Somerset. I have searched diligently for Thomas DOUGLAS for over two years, all over NC, VA, and TN. This is the first believable clue I have. Could I have finally found Thomas? If any of this rings a bell with any of you and you can help, I would appreciate any suggestions on where to look and any information you can furnish.
