MOTT, RHODES, ROTH posted by Iris Grimmett on Sunday, October 25, 1998

Adam RHODES, b ca 1740 probably in Germany and with the surname ROTH, was possibly living on Holland Island in Dorchester Co. MD or Smith Island in Somerset Co. MD prior to ca 1790. His wife was Abigail MOTT and their children were John, Adam Jr., Ebenezer, Mary, Elizabeth, Ruth and Abigail. The family was in Allegany Co. MD, Westernport near George's Creek by 1795 and in Champaign Co. OH by 1807. I note a Rhodes Point on Smith Island and would like to know the source of this name. Where might I find historical and genealogical records for Smith Island or anyone else researching this location? Thank you.

BOUNDS, DASHIELL, DONOHO, JACKSON, KING, LARRAMORE, MURRAY, POWELL, REED, RICHARDSON, STEWART, WARD posted by J. Richard Donoho on Friday, November 20, 1998

I am researching William DONOHO of Wetipquin, Somerset Co., now Wicomico. William was b. ca 1730, d. in 1786, and m. Sophia RICHARDSON, dau. of John and Rachel RICHARDSON. William DONOHO and Sophia RICHARDSON had children Richardson (m. Grace WARD), William, Joshua (m. Sarah MURRAY), Rebecca (m. William POWELL), and James (m. Ann _). He was probably the son of John DONOHO of Worcester Co. (d. 1765) and possibly Rachel JACKSON, dau. of Joshua JACKSON and Sarah (RICHARDSON?) of Wetipquin. Other possibly associated/related individuals: Joseph BOUNDS (d. 1748) and Tabitha REED BOUNDS, James REED, John REED, Rebecca STEWART DASHIELL, James DASHIELL, William DASHIELL, Jr., Ephraim KING, and Thomas LARRAMORE. Any help in sorting this out, or any info on these families at Wetipquin between 1700 and 1800 would be tremendously appreciated. I'll also be glad to share any info I have.
