BRADSHAW posted by Eva M. Bryant on Sunday, January 16, 2005

In the 1870 Census of Smith Island, Somerset, Maryland, these members of the BRADSHAW family were listed: Levern (or Severn) BRADSHAW (60 yrs.), Mary (wife, 59 yrs.), William (24 yrs.), Kissiah (28 yrs.), Elisha L. (19 yrs.), Ann M. (7 yrs.). I have reason to believe that Elisha L. is in my lineage, as he was from Somerset, Maryland also. According to family records, Elisha was born June 5, 1851. By the 1900s he had moved to Virginia, married and had nine children here. If you know anything about the BRADSHAWs mentioned above, please contact me.

WAGGAMAN posted by Richard Eugene Waggaman Berl on Monday, February 14, 2005

A earlier query noted that Henry WAGGAMAN patented property he owned as "Calcutta" on June 7, 1754. I have a copy of his younger brother William Elliot WAGGAMAN's will in which he left his estate in Calcutta, Nepal in the East Indies to Henry. The will is dated December 4, 1742 and since we have no date of death for William Elliot it would appear it occured sometime before 1754. Henry's home, "Monie", in Princess Anne is now the Waterloo Inn, a bed and breakfast. He was also part owner of the Washington Hotel in Princess Anne. I am the great-great-great-grandson of Henry WAGGAMAN through his son George Augustus WAGGAMAN and his son Eugene WAGGAMAN, whose daughter Marie WAGGAMAN married my grandfather, William Berl.

Henry A. ZENKE (ZINKE) is listed in the 1930 census of Somerset Co., in an area called Lawson's Creek. He owned a few acres of land there. He was a widower, born in Prussia in 1862, and lived in Chicago until 1930. We believe he died in Somerset Co., and would like to find his death certificate and place of burial. CAREY, HOWARD posted by Nancy B. Pletcher on Thursday, March 17, 2005

I am looking for anyone who may have information concerning my g-grandfather, George Washington HOWARD, b. May 1855, d. ca1932, married Margaret/Maggie H. CAREY, b.1859 or 1862, d. between 1920 and 1929. They had five children: Winnie, Glen, Nellie, Mable and Wallace. I found their marriage license at the Princess Anne Court House, date of marriage listed as April 28, 1880. The marriage license lists her birth date as 1862 but on the 1900 Census, her birth date is listed as March 1859. If anyone has found these names or dates matching in their family history, any information would be greatly appreciated. Margaret/Maggie C. HOWARD and Glen HOWARD were to have been buried at St.Pauls/Peters Episcopal Church in Rehoboth. My mother and grandfather placed flowers on their gravesites in the 1970s, but when my mother and I returned in the 1990s, the gravestones, with the brass railings, were no longer there. I have tried contacting the gentleman in charge of the graveyard, according to Rev. Percy, but have not had any success with returned calls. Help!!
