DENT, LINDSEY posted by Jyl Hardy on Monday, November 1, 1999

Abigail DENT married Edmund LINDSEY probably in Charles County Md about 1675. Her father was Capt. John DENT who died in 1712. Is he the same Capt. BEAUCHAMP, BERRY, WILLIN posted by Floyd N. Berry on Saturday, November 20, 1999

Various BEAUCHAMP/BERRY researchers have been trying for up to 25 years to find documention of the marriage of John BERRY to Nancy BEAUCHAMP in Kent County, DE or Somerset County, MD abt 1780 , but to no avail. We recently contacted a reseacher with the following information in his/her files: Page 155 "aec." John 3, Edward 2, Edmund 1. John BEAUCHAMP married abt 1746 Mary _______. His will of 1756 left 5 children, all minors - (a) Bette, b. 10 Oct 1747, (b) Edward, (c) Priscilla, (d) John b. 1753 and (e) Nance. Nance married about 1778 in DE John BERRY who died 1789 DE. Had these children : William, John, Marcie (Morris) and Gracie. Nance (BEAUCHAMP) BERRY remarried in Kent Co., DE 14 July 1790 Day WILLIN. They were in Kentucky ca 1799. Reference was given as the Filson Club History Quarterly (Volume 28, 1954) "The Beauchamp Family" by Stith Thompson, former Dean of the Graduate School, Indiana University. We obtained a copy of the report from the Filson Club in Louisville. We have not been able to find the last two paragraphs of the referenced information in the BEAUCHAMP article! Evidently the wrong reference was linked to these last two paragraphs. Any assistance in finding the correct reference would be appreciated. Following is exactly what appeared in the Filson Club Quarterly - aec John Beauchamp3 (Edward2, Edmund1), m Mary Will of 1756 Children (a) Bette b Oct 10 1747 (b) Edward (c) Priscilla (4) John, b 1753 (e) Nance.

REDDISH posted by Susan Curelop on Friday, December 3, 1999

I am searching for information on Nicholas REDDISH, born around 1750 in England, came to Maryland sometime between 1750 and 1787. He lived in Somerset County, married a Nancy Ann Fitzgerald (unsure of last name). He had 10 children: Thomas, William, James, Sarah, Elizabeth, Eleanor, John, Nathan, Nicholas, and Edgar. Maryland Archives shows him farming in Somerset County, along with a Hiron REDDISH and a John REDDISH. I am trying to find where in England he came from, and if these two are related. Any information you'd like to share on any REDDISH, I have a lot of information from Nicholas to present day.

ELLIS, HITCH posted by Shari Handley on Friday, December 17, 1999

I'm investigating a possible link between my lines and the HITCH surname. Elijah ELLIS, b. ca 1780, m. Sarah "Sallie" _____. Their children were b. in Somerset Co Maryland. I'm wondering whether Sallie's maiden name was perhaps HITCH. Among Elijah and Sallie's children was Esther _Hitch_ ELLIS b. 1808. I wonder if she was given that middle name because it was her mom's name? Does anyone know of a Sarah/Sallie HITCH that fits?

HILLMAN, WHITE posted by Shari Handley on Tuesday, December 21, 1999

My "Captain" Henry WHITE was born 20 Dec 1807 and died 24 Feb 1850. He married Sarah "Sallie" ELLIS (dtr of Elijah and Sarah ELLIS?) in 1828. Their children were Thomas William Hillman WHITE, Mary Elizabeth WHITE, Ann Marie WHITE, Sarah Ellen WHITE, Elizabeth Jane WHITE, Martha Washington WHITE, and Mary Emeline WHITE, born between 1831 and 1845. Henry and Sallie are buried near Shad Point, outside of Salisbury, Wicomico County. I have an old, circa 1920s family tree done for a WHITE Family Reunion that says Henry's parents were Joseph and Polly WHITE. The record of Henry's birth in Stepney Parish records confirms this. A source has said that Polly was a HILLMAN. An old newspaper article about Thomas William Hillman WHITE, also done in the 20s, gives Joseph and Polly's children as Henry, Hamilton, Peter and William. Does any of this ring a bell by any chance?

BING, BYNG posted by Caroline Byng on Monday, December 27, 1999

William BING or BYNG lived in Salisbury in 1815. He is found in Caroline County census in 1790 and 1800. Was Salisbury still in Somerset in 1815? Any information about him will be appreciated. He is linked to my missing link, but I don't know how. Anything at all, please.
