     William Mutch was born, about 1838, in Tyrie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. No IGI birth record was found.^1,2

William Mutch married Christian Cheyne 1 November 1863, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, at 5 James Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The marriage record listed William as a 34 year old, journeyman blacksmith, residing in the village of Strichen, Strichen Parish. His parents were confirmed to have been as recorded herein.³

William Mutch, journeyman blacksmith, recorded the death of his son, Alexander Mutch, on 13 August 1865, at Bridge Street, Strichen, Strichen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 2 AM, diarrhea and convulsions.⁴

William Mutch, journeyman blacksmith, recorded the birth of his son, William Mutch, on 26 January 1868, in Bridge Street, Strichen, Strichen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 7:30 AM.⁵

William Mutch was listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at Black Smith's House, in Banchory Devenick Parish, Kincardine, Scotland. He was head of household and a blacksmith employing 2 men and 6 labourers. Also present were his children, Christina C. Mutch, Alexander Mutch, William Mutch and Robert C. Mutch. In addition, his mother, Elizabeth Bisset, was also present. His wife Christina may have died. He was 33 years old and born in Tyrie Parish.¹

William Mutch married Mary Ann Cruickshank 31 January 1873, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.^6,2

William Mutch and his wife Mary Mutch were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at 23 Firthside Street, in Fraserburgh, Fraserburgh Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a master blacksmith employing 4 men and boys. Also present were his children, Alexander Mutch, William Mutch, Robert Cheyne Mutch, John Mutch, George Mutch, James Mutch and Elizabeth J. Mutch. He was 43 years old and born in Tyrie Parish.²
