     Christian Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 28 October 1834, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 440: [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with six other entries of the same family.] "1834 October 28th Thomas Cheyne (986), Seaman in Peterhead, had a daughter baptized, named Christian (999), before James Matthew & W'm Farquhar.”.1

Elizabeth Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, John Cheyne, Robert Smith Cheyne and Christian Cheyne were listed as in the household of Elizabeth McWilliam on the 1841 Scotland Census, at Union Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was her daughter, age 6, born in Aberdeenshire.2

Christian Cheyne was listed on the 1851 Scotland Census at 408 Bath Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Christian was employed as a servant, in the house of Christian A. Skelton, annuitant. She was listed as 16 and born in Peterhead Parish.3

Christian Cheyne recorded the death of her son, Robert Cheyne, on 12 August 1860, at James Street, Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 2:30 AM, of hydrocephalus for about a fortnight.4

Christian Cheyne was listed on the 1861 Scotland Census at 5 Prince Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Christian was employed as a cook, in the employ of James Laing, hotel keeper. She was 25, born in Peterhead Parish and unmarried.5

Christian Cheyne married William Mutch 1 November 1863, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, at 5 James Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The marriage record listed her as a 28 years of age, a domestic servant, residing in the village of Strichen, Strichen Parish. A James Cheyne witnesses the marriage. Her brother James had already immigrated to New Zealand. It was probably James (995) her cousin.6

Christian Cheyne was listed on the death record as the mother of the deceased Alexander Mutch who died 13 August 1865; at 2 AM, diarrhea and convulsions.7

Christian Cheyne was listed on a birth record as the mother of William Mutch, 26 January 1868, Bridge Street, Strichen, Strichen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 7:30 AM.8

She may have died before the 1871 census, were her husband and children were found without he being present.9
