     Margaret Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 11 February 1815, in Strichen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Strichen, 1748-1819, Page 105 "Feb'y 11th (1815) Alex'r Cheyne (532) & Jean Cardno (558) in Fraserburgh had a Daughter born, named Margaret (559) Baptised _____before______[blank]”.1

Margaret Cheyne, Patrick Gammie Laurie, Harriet Laurie, John Laurie and William Laurie were listed as in the household of William Laurie on the 1841 Scotland Census, at Low Street, in Tyrie, Tyrie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a servant in his household, age 20 and born in Aberdeenshire.2

The baptismal record of Alexander Laurie documented Margaret Cheyne as his mother, 10 July 1842, in Strichen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Strichen, 1820-1854, Page 54, "July 10th (1842) Margaret Cheyne (559) had a Son born, named Alexander (1199). Putative father Rev'd W'm Laurie (1196) baptised before Alex'r Cheyne (532) & John Noble”.3

Margaret Cheyne married James Fraser 19 July 1845, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Longside, 1820-1854, Page 339 "19th (Jul 1845) (No.) _ James Fraser and Margaret Cheyne, both in this parish".4

Margaret Fraser and her husband, James Fraser, were listed on the 1851 Scotland Census, at 82 South Street, in Mintlaw, Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Margaret Cheyne Fraser, Anne Jane Fraser, James Fraser and John Fraser. She was 30 years of age and born in Fraserburgh Parish.5

Margaret Cheyne was listed on the death record as the mother of the deceased Alexander Laurie who died 26 July 1858; at 5:30 PM.6

Margaret Fraser and her husband, James Fraser, were listed on the 1861 Scotland Census, at 4 Glendownie Cottage, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Anne Jane Fraser, James Fraser, John Fraser, Elspet K. Fraser, Alexander Fraser, Christian Fraser and Agnes Fraser. She was listed as 39 years of age and born in Fraserburgh Parish.7

Margaret Fraser and her husband, James Fraser, were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at Aberdeen Turnpike, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, James Fraser, John Fraser, Agnes Fraser and George Fraser. In addition, their grandson, James F. Stephen, was also present.. She was 50 years old and born in Fraserburgh Parish.8

Margaret Fraser and her husband, James Fraser, were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at Millbank, Boddam, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Alexander Fraser, Agnes Fraser and George Fraser. In addition, two grandchildren, James Fraser Stephen, and Margret McDonald (parentage unknown), were also present.. She was 60 years of age and born in Fraserburgh Parish.9

Margaret Cheyne was listed as the mother of the groom on the marriage record of Alexander Fraser and Jane Henry Aberdein, who were married, 31 August 1883; Church of Scotland.10,11

Margaret Fraser and her husband, James Fraser, were listed on the 1891 Scotland Census, at Millbank, Boddam, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. In addition, his grandson, James F. Stephen, was also present.. She was 70 years of age and born in Fraserburgh Parish.13

Margaret Fraser died 14 December 1894 at 5 PM, of ovarian cancer for 7 months, at Millbank, Boddam in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The death record listed her as seventy four years of age and that she was married to James Fraser, shoemaker, who recorded her death. Her parents, both deceased, were confirmed to have been as herein recorded.14
