     George Todd Cheyne was baptized, 9 September 1809, in Crail Parish, Fife, Scotland.1

George Todd Cheine married Barbara Todd 7 November 1837, in Killarrow Parish, Argyll, Scotland.2

George Chiene was listed on the 1841 Scotland Census at Nicolson Square, in Edinburgh, Saint Cuthberts Parish, Midlothian, Scotland. He was a factor in the household of George Todd, writer. He was listed as 30 years of age and born in Scotland, not Midlothian. George Todd was probably related to his wife, Barbara Todd or to his mother, Mary Todd.3

On 18 May 1850. George Todd Chiene, C. A ., was named the father of Dora Chiene, who married Sir Henry Cheyne of Girlsta (Shetland), The Cheyne Family in Scotland, A. Y. Cheyne, page 112.
Also A History of the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet, page 38, "Cheyne, Harry, of Girlesta. Apprentice to, and son of, Henry Cheyne, W.S.. Born 2d March 1845. Mar. 20th July 1876, Dora, daughter of George Todd Chiene, C.A., Edinburgh".4

George Todd Cheyne was listed on the 1851 Scotland Census, at 16 Howard Place, in Edinburgh, Saint Cuthberts Parish, Midlothian, Scotland. He was head of household and a Justice of Peace, Argyll County and (Acct Insa Ayr)?. Also present were his children, John Chiene, George Todd Chiene and Dorothy Cooper Chiene. In addition, a visitor, Mary Stiles Cameron, and four servants were also present.5

George Todd Cheine and his wife Barbara Chiene were listed on the 1861 Scotland Census, at 27 Northumberland Street, in Edinburgh, Saint Andrew Parish, Midlothian, Scotland. He was head of household and a Chartered Accountant. Also present were his children, John Chiene, George T. Chiene, Dorothy Cooper Chiene and Mary T. Chiene. Also present were three household servants.6

George Todd Cheyne and his wife Barbara K. Chiene were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at 27 Northumberland Street, in Edinburgh, Saint Marys Parish, Midlothian, Scotland. He was head of household and a C. A.. Also in the household were two nieces; Dorothy, 28, and Jane, 25, Cuthberton; and, two domestic servants.7

George Todd Cheyne died 17 June 1882 in Burntisland, Fife, Scotland. The date and place of death was found in Confirmations and Inventories.8
