Thomas Nicol was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 18 August 1816, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1739-1819, Page 12/322, "Aug. 18th 1816 [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact with one other of the same family.] Thomas Nicol (1355), ship-carpenter in Peterhead, had a son baptised and named Thomas (1356), before Tho's Dicky & John Reid.”.1
Thomas Nicol witnessed the christening of his niece, Mary Ann Cheyne, on 4 February 1847, at Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 268, "February 4th (1847) George Cheyne (548), Mason in Peterhead and Ann Nicol (972) his wife, had a daughter, born 26th Jan'y, baptized and named Mary (975), before Thomas Nicol (1356) and John Milne.”.2
