     Mary Ann Cheyne was born, 26 January 1847, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.1

Mary Ann Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 4 February 1847, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 268, "February 4th (1847) George Cheyne (548), Mason in Peterhead and Ann Nicol (972) his wife, had a daughter, born 26th Jan'y, baptized and named Mary (975), before Thomas Nicol (1356) and John Milne.”.1

Elizabeth Cheyne, Christian Cheyne, Mary Ann Cheyne and Margaret Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Cheyne on the 1851 Scotland Census, at 9 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 4 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.2

Christina Cheyne, Mary Ann Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, Thomas Cheyne, Elenora Cheyne and William Kirten Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Ann Cheyne on the 1861 Scotland Census, at 66 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 15 years of age, born in Peterhead Parish and a scholar.3

Mary Ann Cheyne married John Clark 18 June 1867, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The marriage record listed her as nineteen years of age and a spinster. The image quality of the film was poor and I could not transcribe all the information. I could not read her occupation, address, where the marriage took place, the religion or the names of the witnesses.4

Mary Ann Clark and her husband, John Clark, were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at Cotters House, Mains of Esslemont, in Ellon Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Jessie Anne Garden Clark and William Cheyne Clark. She was 22 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.5

Mary Ann Cheyne was listed on a birth record as the mother of John Clark, 14 April 1872, East Lodge, Esslemont, Ellon Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 3:00 AM.6

Mary Ann Cheyne was listed on a birth record as the mother of Mary Cheyne Clark, 17 September 1874, Souterfield, Keithhall and Kinkell Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 11:30 AM.7

Mary Ann Clark and her husband, John Clark, were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at Woodside, in Keithhall Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Jessie Anne Garden Clark, William Cheyne Clark, John Clark, Mary Cheyne Clark and Francis Jon Clark.8

Mary Ann Clark was listed on the 1891 Scotland Census, at 85 Mistle Street, in Glasgow, Barony Parish, Lanark, Scotland. She was head of household and a farmer's wife. Also present were her children, Mary Cheyne Clark and Francis Jon Clark. Her husband was not present. Also in the household was her sister-in-law, Jessie Clark, 30. Ed. Note: Jessie Clark may have been mis-indexed and may have been her daughter Jessie, 20, born Keithhall. Mary Ann was 47 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.9

Mary Ann Clark and her husband, John Clark, were listed on the 1901 Scotland Census, at Mill of Kelly, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Jessie Anne Garden Clark and Francis Jon Clark. She was 53 years old and born in Peterhead Parish.10

Mary Ann Cheyne died 25 February 1915.11,12

Mary Ann Cheyne was buried, at Methlick Kirkyard, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Her monumental inscription reads; "In memory of Mary Ann Cheyne wife of John Clark, Kelly, Methlick, who died 25th Feb 1915 aged 67 years. The above John Clark born 24th April 1846 Died 26th December 1922. (right side) Their dau. Mary, wife of John Robertson, d. Cruden Bay 5 Apr 1937. Above John Robertson d. there 18 Dec 1941 aged 65. (left side) Their elder daughter Jessie who died at Aberdeen 20 Jan 1951". On the base CLARK..11,13
